The verdict is out. Yes, you read it right. The web series " The Verdict: State Vs Nanavati" is out and Lopamudra Raut is seen in a whole new avatar. It’s a period drama of 1959. The case was a landmark case in the Indian judiciary system. The case was in the commander Kawas Manekshaw Nanavati who was being tried for the murder of his wife's alleged lover Prem Ahuja. The series has an ensemble cast and Lopamudra fits into the bill perfectly for the role of a retro star.

Lopamudra has essayed the character of a retro superstar with a lot of conviction. She wears a saree in the film in major portions. The character has a lot of accessories. She fits in the bill perfectly. Lopamudra is playing a retro star in the film and she has nailed the character. Lopamudra is looking stunning in the character.  The web series is out on Altbalaji and it has an ensemble cast, to say the least with Angad Bedi, Kubbra Sait, Saurabh Shukla, Sawanand Kirkire, Makrand Deshpande, Sumeet Vyas, Soni Razdan, Elli Avram, Pooja Gaur and Lopamudra Raut directed by ken gosh. Everything in the series is retro. The references were from the 60s right from styling to sets and even in the performances. Lopamudra makes us truly believe in the period of the film and she has pulled off this character with amazing conviction.

The reviews have been phenomenal for the show. The practice that she had put on her character is evident in the way she has pulled it off.
The platform is amazing. The case was a very important one in the Indian judiciary system and it’s a major case study across universities.
We have seen the series and its every bit fantastic be it production, performances, background score or edits. It's paving the way for a lot of great content on the web in India and we are truly well in a digital world we must say. We wish all the luck and our verdict for The Verdict is massy and classy.

Mumbai, 10th October 2019: With an aim to chronicle and promote India’s flourishing hip-hop scene, leading music magazine Rolling Stone India and digital media firm Qyuki have joined hands to launch #HaqSeHipHop, a first-of-its-kind multi-platform property.

Rolling Stone India and Qyuki have been early supporters and stakeholders in India’s hip-hop ecosystem from its fledgling days, and with #HaqSeHipHop, both endeavor to give the diverse hip-hop voices in India a definitive mouthpiece they can claim as their own.

Long before hip-hop attracted mainstream attention, Rolling Stone India consistently employed its editorial platform to promote talent and report every development in the scene -- the magazine was the first to famously feature emerging hip-hop talent on its cover in 2016, following it up with another cover in 2019.

Says Nirmika Singh, Executive Editor, Rolling Stone India, “The #HaqSeHipHop property is our way of honoring the hard work, hustle and hope in hip-hop. Samir Bangara, Co-Founder & MD, Qyuki, says, “Since the birth of hip-hop in the late Seventies, its form and meaning have always been challenged and redefined by artists. To preserve the true spirit of expression as a birthright, we conceived ‘Haq Se’ (by right) which specifically promotes independent hip-hop talent. Our investment in promoting local hip-hop started with The Dharavi Dream Project six years ago along with Universal Music Group and with #HaqSeHipHop, we want to widen the platform and nurture the incredible diversity in the genre from across the country.”

One of the most highly anticipated releases of 2019, eight-track Kohinoor releases on Mass Appeal India; the album features hip-hop elite like Ill Wayno, Dave East, Gully Gang crew and Carnatic singer Sid Sriram among others

October 2019 – A year in the making, the wait for India’s premier hip-hop star DIVINE’s debut album, Kohinoor, finally gets over on October 9. Kohinoor is the first release from the Indian imprint of Nas’ iconic label, Mass Appeal after its launch in India in collaboration with Universal Music Group.

The eight-track album – that includes the hip-hop legend Nas on a track – showcases different facets of DIVINE’s personality and skills, and introduces fans and listeners to the world of Vivian Fernandes.

With collaborations at the heart of the albumKohinoor is the mark of an artist who has found his voice and is unafraid to stake his claim on the world.

From working with producers like Grammy Award-winning Ill Wayno – who also produced the Nas, Naezy and DIVINE track, ‘NY Se Mumbai’ – to old-time collaborators Phenom aka Pinaki Rattan and Gully Gang associates like Shah Rule, Aavrutti and D’evil, and names like New York rapper and US hip-hop’s next big thing, Dave East and Carnatic singer and songwriter Sid Sriram, on Kohinoor listeners get to hear of variety of styles and sounds.

The face of the hip-hop movement in India, Kohinoor is an introduction to DIVINE for the world watching.

Razor sharp words with a bite and set to beats that wouldn’t be out of place in a bar in Brooklyn, all eight tracks on Kohinoor are personal, and an insight into DIVINE’s world. Like in ‘Kohinoor’, where DIVINE invokes the city he grew up in, his mother, friends and the hip-hop community. Or in ‘Wallah’ which features Shah Rule, where he talks about how his success drove his friends away. Or ‘Vibe hai’, which is his salute to the Gully Gang movement, and his crew. On ‘Remand’, DIVINE’s fiery passion meets Dave East’s street cred.

“This album is a part of me and a chance for me to tell people my story,” says DIVINE of Kohinoor. “I wanted to give my fans my side of the story, to move the curtain and let them see what my life is all about. I have learned some truths the hard way, and I have no regrets in life. Music-wise, I have worked with people that I have a great working relationship with, people who get me like Pinaki aka Phenom or my Gully Gang boys. And I was very clear about the kind of people I wanted on this album. Like Ill Wayno, Dave East and even Sid, who I have wanted to work with for such a long time,” he adds.

While the album is packed with sounds and themes that those familiar with DIVINE have come to expect, it does have a few surprises in store. Like the reggaeton-infused cheeky Chal Bombay, DIVINE’s first-ever ‘love’ song or the R&B style ‘Too Hype’ with Sid Sriram.
Kohinoor is one of the hotly-anticipated albums of the year and will release on Mass Appeal India. And on October 12, DIVINE will launch Kohinoor in Mumbai in what will be his first-ever public performance of the album. The album launch will be presented by the OnePlus Music Festival.
Devraj Sanyal, MD & CEO, Universal Music Group, India and South Asia, said, “DIVINE’s Kohinoor is the most awaited indigenous hip-hop album of all time and at Mass Appeal India, we are proud to ensure that this epic album is heard by Indians, the Asian diaspora worldwide and the hip-hop loving population the world over. For the first time ever an album from India is being worked in a global partnership between Mass Appeal US for the American markets, Island UK for the UK markets and Mass Appeal India for the Indian, Asian, and other emerging markets. We’re getting some amazing global feedback on Kohinoor already, ahead of its release & we can’t wait to share this with all the DIVINE fans here and everywhere”
Peter Bittenbender, CEO of Mass Appeal, said, “This is a monumental day for Indian Hip Hop with DIVINE claiming his rightful spot at the top of the game. For Nas and the team at Mass Appeal India, this is an incredibly proud moment as Kohinoor is a perfect body of work to showcase DIVINE's immense talents and take his music to the world. The best part of Kohinoor is that it's just the beginning for DIVINE and all we have planned at Mass Appeal India!
With a focus on working DIVINE to the mainstream in the US, Canada, and the UK we will showcase just how big this movement truly can get on a global level"

Post Event Release

SINDOOR UTSAV AT "COLORS MALAD WEST SARBOJONIN DURGOTSAV 2019" ORGANISED BY MAITREE CULTURAL ASSOCIATION

Tanushree Dutta, Deepshikha Nagpal & Shweta Khanduri &Ishita Ganguly came today to the Durga Puja Pandal of  Colors Malad West Sarbojonin Durgotsav 2019 by Maitree Cultural Association to seek Maa’s blessings.

The 5 days included celebration from Shasti to Bijoya Dashami along with many exciting activities like sit down Bhog, Anandamela - a food pop up where home chefs had put up tables, a cultural program organized by and for the underprivileged kids.

The theme of the 6th year of Durga Puja was- Roots & Wings - There are two lasting bequests we give children- One is roots and the other is Wings. Maitree Cultural Association has its mission to provide Roots to the generation next of the organization so that they grow into men and women with a sense of belonging to an extended family providing support to one another, and learning value systems that come about from sharing and caring as part of a community which does things together - Wings to fly and scale new heights in all aspects.

Maa's murti was 15 ft tall. This is one of the “Roots” part … it is traditional Ek Chala which literally translates to ‘under one roof’....the backdrop is unbroken and common from Ganesh to Kartik with Laxmi, Saraswati and Maa Durga in between. The idols are adorned in the very traditional Daaker Shaaj wherein the attire and ornaments and mukutis crafted out of the natural fiber, shola (Indian cork) into which metal embellishments and decorations are added.

The pandal was divided into 2 sections- the cultural & bhog area and the Devi mandap. The lavishly decorated Devi Mandap was the “Wings”- more contemporary, airy, well illuminated to appear welcoming. A place where people can hang out and converse without being overpowered by décor. It was designed to be people friendly with an ambiance that exudes warmth.

The organisers take pride that thousands throng the puja pandal to partake in the bhog. Three days of unmatched, unflinching hospitality and service, one can vouch that the hospitality matches that of a wedding feast in terms of service and food.

While a couple of grownups keep an eye, the service is the domain of Maitree’s Youth Wing members, some of those who serve are as young as 6…and they do it well, fully in coordination with those just a little older to them. In addition, the puja team is led by ladies with the gentlemen playing a very supportive role.

When asked, if the is associated with a noble cause, Shyamashish Bhattacharya (President of the Organization),  Rupa Roy (General Secretary of the Organization) and Jayanta Chatterjee (Vice President) said "Yes, of course…and we do this throughout the year and not just as flavour of the season. We’ve distributed grains, diapers, medicines, toilette items to the inmates at Assisi Bhavan, the children of Athurta Foundation are constant beneficiaries from things they need (shoes, clothes, school bags, books) to what they want (soft toys, games, treats) they get them all. In fact they were the ones who inaugurated the Utsav. We planted plenty of trees in collaboration with the BMC during the rains this year. The Social Outreach Program is continuous and we have a calendar full of such events.”

MAHASHASHTI-  On this day,  Maa is welcomed with much fan fare.Evening will have Sandhya Aarati followed by Anandamela(which is a food pop up with home chefs will put up tables). Simultaneouslythere will be an inauguration with lighting of the lamp.

MAHASAPTAMI - Early morning is the beautiful Nabapatrika ceremonywhere the ladies take a banana plant to the pond for a bath and comes backdecked up as a bride.

MAHA ASHTAMI PUJA:  Ashtami is considered as the most important day of Durga Puja by Bengalis. This is the day when special pujas like 'Astra Puja' and 'Sandhi Puja' are also carried out. For Atra Puja, Goddess Durga's weapons are worshiped. With the help of these ten weapons, she defeated the Mahishasura. The Sandhi puja is performed in the most auspicious juncture of Mahashtami and Navami. The Sandhi time falls when Ashtami ends and before the start Navami and lasts 48 mins during which the puja is carried out. 108 lamps are lit, 108 fully bloomed lotus flowers and 108 bell leaves are offered to the Goddess. It is believed that Durga is most powerful during the time Sandhi Puja is performed.

MAHA NAVAMI PUJA : Being the last day of worship before Visarjan, puja takes on an altogether special fervour. This is also the day when a symbolic sacrifice is offered and a Hom (havan) is done that day.

BIJOYA DASHAMI:- On this day Maa had defeated and killed Mahishashur.
