Testing of the new Porsche Taycan has entered the final stage

Dubai. Porsche’s first purely electrically driven sports car, the Taycan, is currently completing its final test drives before it enters series production. In Scandinavia, just a few kilometers away from the Arctic Circle, it is proving its potential in terms of driving dynamics on snow and ice. At the same time, Porsche engineers are taking advantage of the summer in the Southern Hemisphere. In South Africa, they are conducting performance tests, as well as final adjustments in terms of continuous performance and reproducibility. In Dubai they are carrying out hot-climate endurance runs and testing battery charging under extreme conditions. The 30 countries across the globe in which these comprehensive tests are being carried out have temperatures that range from minus 35 to plus 50 degree Celsius.

“After carrying out computer simulations and comprehensive bench tests early on, we have now reached the final phase of this demanding testing programme,” underlines the vice president of the model line, Stefan Weckbach: “Before the Taycan is launched on the market at the end of the year, we will have covered approximately six million kilometers across the globe. We are already very happy with the current status of the vehicles. The Taycan is going to be a true Porsche.”

Of course, at Porsche, electric cars have to undergo the same rigorous testing programme as sport cars with combustion engines. In addition to displaying superior performance, this always includes proving unrestricted suitability for everyday use in all climate conditions. Particularly demanding features such as charging the battery or temperature control of the drive train and the interior under extreme conditions are additional aspects in the battery-powered models. Other typical Porsche development targets include circuit performance, multiple accelerations, as well as a range suitable for everyday use.

The most significant facts from the Taycan testing phase:
·         Overall distance covered: Approximately six million kilometers, of which two million were endurance run kilometers
·         Countries: A total of 30, including the USA, China, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) and Finland
·         Temperatures: From minus 35 to plus 50 degree Celsius
·         Air humidity: From 20 to 100 per cent
·         Altitude: From 85 meters below to 3,000 meters above sea level
·         Charging cycles: Over 100,000 using various charging technologies across the globe
·         Development team: Around 1,000 test drivers, technicians and engineers

Virtual drive through “The Green Hell”
Test experts were able to build upon the comprehensive findings from the digital testing stage using digital prototypes. At present, computers are used to design the body, drive, chassis, electronics and overall vehicle of a new model and to simulate their functions – which includes how they work together. In total, the virtual prototypes of the Taycan have completed more than ten million digital kilometers.

This meant that development engineers started driving a Taycan around the Nürburgring Nordschleife in a driving simulator at an early stage, so that they could test and evaluate its circuit performance. During this process, they focused on the electrical energy management, which plays an important role in achieving a sub-eight-minute lap time on the 20.6-kilometer (timed distance) Nordschleife. Already more than 20,000 prospective buyers The Porsche Taycan will be introduced in September and will be launched onto the market at the end of the year. Across the globe, there are already more than 20,000 serious prospective buyers. The potential customers have put their names down on an option programme list and made a down payment.

The Taycan accelerates from zero to 100 km/h in significantly less than 3.5 seconds. It has a range of more than 500 kilometers (according to the NEDC). The 800-V architecture in the vehicle guarantees that the lithium-ion battery can be recharged in just four minutes, providing enough energy to drive 100 kilometers (according to NEDC).

Raju Singh, the Musical Sikh Behind Kesari!

Raju Singh, the Musical Sikh Behind Kesari!

It's always the stars behind stars that make the stars or their films. So while we mostly know about the actors or the songs that get popular, ever wondered who's responsible for the thrill and the romance or the dhishoom dhishoom that our movies are so known for? It's the magical works of background music composers.

So while Akshay Kumar starrer Kesari is raking in the moolah with its recent release at the box office, there's one musical Sikh who's played an instrumental role in the making of this film. We are talking about composer Raju Singh who is known for film background music pieces in Bollywood industry.

Having worked with the filmmaker of Kesari, Anurag Singh in his Punjabi national award winning film, Punjab 1984, Singh has been a great fan of the filmmaker ever since. "I just love the way Anurag works on his films. He is such a versatile director, right from Jatt & Juliet which was a complete commercial entertainer to the serious drama Punjab 1984, Anurag had shown great versatility and sensibilities of all kinds of cinema. I enjoyed the process of music arrangements even in Kesari," says Singh while further adding, "Anurag is among those directors that give so much importance to every aspect of filmmaking. I was brought on board and also started working even before the shooting of the film began. Generally, filmmakers shoot a lot of the film and then give it to the composers to piece together the background tracks, however, Anurag wanted this film to be so enriched with the Punjabi culture as it celebrates the bravura of the great Sikh warriors who fought tooth and nail to protect their land, that he wanted me to move along with my work as the shooting progressed. His expectations brought out the best in me and I loved this challenge to bits!"

Clearly the teaming of Raju Singh and Anurag Singh is working wonders, first the national award for Punjab 1984 and now the rave reviews for Kesari!

Ironically, Raju Singh has also been associated with Akshay Kumar's films and has been a part of Akhay's journey in the industry. Right from Akshay's debut movie Saugandh to Kesari, Raju Singh has arranged the background pieces for his films, "Coincidentally it's true that my association with Akshay goes a long way. In fact I've worked in quite a few of Akshay's films including the likes of Sainik, and then his famous Khiladi series and now Kesari! It's been a great journey," says Raju Singh.

Rahul is now establishing his name in Hindi film industry.

Rahul Chaudhari has established his own identity as a director who takes off the beaten track with films like, Bandookya (2017) and Iblis (2019). After making a mark in Marathi film industry, Rahul is now establishing his name in Hindi film industry. We can learn a lot from the world cinema or bring novelty in our style; but Rahul believes in being more inspirational than merely leaving a distinctive mark. 'Iblis', his Marathi film is releasing in May this year. Besides this, he is also directing a Hindi film. This Hindi film is going to be a different experience altogether to the audience. Speaking about his upcoming projects Rahul said, "I don't think that this direction is any different from others except for the medium of language. Instead of making a 'differently styled' movie, I insist on the impact of my film. Title of the upcoming film will remain a secret for some days. I will reveal it officially once the project is complete. The film which I am directing will not only be entertaining, but it will also be based on a subject which has not yet been touched. Instead of just fame, I like to witness what difference a film can make in the society. The films over last few years convey a different definition of the entertainment. The film-makers and audience have realized that mere comedy, funny storyline or a lot of action scenes don't alone constitute the entertainment; but the films making us aware of the responsibilities can also be entertaining. Hence I wish that, in future the audience will recognize me as a director of films based on untouched subjects."

Instead of topping the box office charts with a masala film, Rahul takes great satisfaction in taking a risk with a brave subject to make a film. He also takes care not to be typecast anywhere. Film Bandookya stirred the social fabric, while Iblis will be a thought provoking entertainment. The story of his upcoming film is very simple but it touches a subject which people often ignore. Instead of growing big under the influence of famous writer-directors, director Rahul Chaudhari has always preferred to create his own unique style. With an observational and thinking mindset, Rahul originally *comes* from the drama industry.

While studying the theater, one thing that got imbibed deeply on his mind is observation; which helps him to come up with new ideas and fresh subjects. That's the reason he is inclined towards doing innovative and novel things. Which in turn stokes his analytical and experimental mindset. Rahul admires the films of different flavor made by renowned director Vishal Bharadwaj. Rahul likes his style because his storytelling contains a lot of wisdom expressed in very short words.
