“An Actor's journey of finding the grit and determination of the human spirit ". In September the petite marathi mulgi, Smita Gondkar heard about the 1st Rally of the Himalayas ,the rally that is rated amongst the three toughest rallies in the world and the only rally in the world to be organised at this high altitude. For quite a while she toyed with the question, ‘Should I’, ‘Fight or Flight’ ?.

The hesitancy came from the sheer size of the daunting task of racing at altitudes upto 15,000 ft above sea level where the temperature dips to a bone chilling -4° celcius and the lungs screamed for oxygen which is at just 15 to 17% in the air. And quietly  her spirit whispered to fight. And thus began Smita's 4 days battle which started in Manali, went to Hampta pass, Gramphu, Batal, Losar, Kaza in Spiti valley and back to Solang valley, a total 374kms which comprised of 160kms of transport and 214kms of competitive stage which comprised of steep hill climbs, dirt, stones, rocks, small and big gravel, black ice, river crossing, river beds, sand, altitude, freezing temperatures and lack of oxygen.. She fell a few times on the never ending rocky terrain but everytime she picked herself up and rode on. The body was battered but the soul endured. And at the end of it Smita stood tall amongst a pile of fallen rallyist.
Apart from Ambulances placed at intervals, Air ambulances by Air Himalayas were always on standby in case of any emergency and casualty.

Smita says, " Last 5 years I had been dreaming of just finishing the rally in the Himalayas. Trophee is like an icing on the cake. Living the life of an actress and a celebrity back home, this Rally was definitely challenging and completely outside my comfort zone to a large extent.. but as earlier and always, I wanted to test my limits..  I would love to thank my brother and mentor Sanjay Gondkar for making the perfect bike for me, co competitor  Ritchie Nirmal for always motivating me,  our Manager and head mechanic Raju Sheikh, service and back up team Zahid Sheikh and the legendary Pratap Bhagwat. I would also like to thank Mr. Suresh Rana and Himalayan Extreme motorsport for organising and FMSCI and Northern motorsports for executing this lovely event."

Samikssha Bhatnagar will be playing the Tabla in her upcoming project for an OTT Portal. The project is called Challava and Samikssha plays someone who is proficient in playing a percussion (Tabla). What's interesting is that Samikssha is already a trained tabla artist, which caught makers by surprise. 

We remember someone like Rishi Kapoor Ji, who played the Tambourine {Dafli} with such conviction and looking at the recent video (Instagram Link),  Samikssha is nailing the instrument as that has been part of her instrumental and music training while growing up. She loves arts and music and finds her solace in the musicality. It has been a huge part of her childhood and that will come to the folklore as she shoots for Challava. Glad we got to know this and we got to see interesting bits of her flair.

We spoke to her and asked her about the  and how she learnt it and here is what she says "Well, it was at a very young age I learnt the tabla and harmonium (Reed Organ) as part of my classical music and dance training.  The tabla has a lovely sound to it and it requires a lot of practice. I didn't have to go for a formal instrument training as I've been training classical music since the age of 3 from my Mom.

They say that no learning ever go waste and here it comes. I could play the tabla for the show Challava. It did come on handy and I just had to get back on rhythm. I have a knack for learning music and new instruments and that continues to this day just that the schedule is much more hectic now and I don't find enough time to put into it. Love to all. Let's all get vaccinated when the opportunity comes and be very careful."

Celina talks of her incredible journey and hard work to reach this point , she says- “It took 18 years as an actor, an 8 year break from Cinema, two twin pregnancies and overcoming the loss of my parents and son to win this. Thank you FILMFARE (ME), for giving this award to genuine hard work. I couldn’t make it for the awards but this award certainly made it to my heart and soul. 

She dedicated it to her late parents whom she lost just before the film shoot and her husband Peter Haag and also director Ramkamal Mukherjee , he believed in her from the beginning and was of great support through the difficult moments of shooting while suffering from depression.

As a director who is full of ideas, Saasha recreates her father Shyam Ramsay's legacy by treating Ramsay fans with a horror film, a concept of a classic old-school horror film lost in the modern interpretation of the same genre. The Director of the film “Motel” promises that the upcoming horror film is a true blue Ramsay horror with a touch of her sensibilities of filmmaking. She further adds that the film does not have the usual ugly, melting face or weird camera angles to scare the audience out of their wits "This film is about everything I've learned from my father, Mr. Shyam Ramsay who is the torchbearer of this genre. I am genuinely trying to recreate the magic my father created and want to treat the Ramsay fans recreating the era and humbly await the acceptance of the new-age audiences” says Saasha


“We want to present Ramsay horror flick to people. It is not tacky, we don’t want to make a film and be apologetic about it, either as audience or as a maker” says the producer  Seema Shrivastava 

Lead actor Sharad Kumar feels that the horror genre is very popular in India and filmmakers and actors especially A-listers should be part of more such films “Horror is not just about ghosts, it is primarily about the emotion of fear. Usually A-listers shy away from the genre and I don’t understand why”.

The on-location was witnessed by the entire cast with the shot of Lead actress Garima and Shankar Srivastav lost in the wilderness and accidentally falls upon the blood-stained amputated arm lying on the road, she quips “Seems like a Ramsay film being shot to Sharad Shrivastav and they walk by.

The set was interwoven with Halloween props and added to the eerie location, the full moon, and the Ramsay backdrop … perfect for the “Motel “.
