“Be you, be original, don’t try to be one amongst the herd” says fashion & costume designer -Darshan Jalan & Team

Darshan Jalan can be credited for changing the narrative of fashion in films, runway & street style. His costumes in films like Vikram Veda, Ankhon Dekhi, Dum Lagake Haisha, Teen, Toilet – Ek Prem Katha, 24 (Tamil), Kahani 2, Sui-Dhaaga, Mithya and web series like Mirzapur, Delhi Crime2, Leila and many more have fetched him a loyal fan base for acing the looks of actors in their characters. He understands the nitty-gritty of the ever-evolving fashion industry, and hence, the need to experiment with newer trends and styles to keep up with the modern-day trends.

Jalan’s story is equal parts inspiring and relatable. An alumnus of NIFT Mumbai, Darshan started his career as a men’s wear designer for Provogue, followed by Killer Jeans and Options Juhu as their in-house designer. He says that his frugal life in Mumbai for a greater part of early 2000’s was challenging but also built his character.

Matrubhoomi: A Nation Without Women was the first opportunity into movies and a stepping stone to recognition and appreciation he has established in the Indian movie industry. Many award nominations and goodwill has been bestowed upon him but he is far from being complacent.

Born in Ranchi, Jharkhand, Darshan is an artist, designer and a visionary. Growing up in a family that has an astound appreciation for the Arts provided him a platform, but it was his time at Scindia School set within the grand architecture of Gwalior Fort that sparked his interest in design, aesthetics, and storytelling.

Jalan is a private person by nature and likes to keep himself busy. His one-track mission to create a new landscape for costume design in Indian cinema keeps him focused in the times of criticism and self-doubt.

“I think it’s important to know as many skills as you can along the way and keep growing with time. But I think it’s also important to have a unique point of view – be original and don’t try to be one amongst the herd” says Darshan Jalan who also has two design partners, Neelanchal Ghosh and Manish Tiwari.

 Porsche India | Press Release - Porsche achieves record figures and starts Road to 20 programme

Porsche AG finished the 2022 financial year with four new records. Group sales revenue in 2022 amounted to 37.6 billion euros, corresponding to growth of 13.6 per cent (2021: 33.1 billion euros). The Group operating profit was 6.8 billion euros, exceeding the previous year’s figure by 1.5 billion euros (an increase of 27.4 per cent).

 

The Porsche team continues to set itself high targets for the future. In 2023, the company started its ambitious Road to 20 programme, with which Porsche is aiming for a Group operating return on sales of more than 20 per cent in the long term.

 

 

Tips Films and Abhishek Dudhaiya collaborate on real-life web series –Ajmer Files!

In the current realm of web series in the market people prefer stories based on real-life events as there is already a curiosity inside their minds to explore the events and backstories that are not available to the public.

Tips Films Ltd. and Abhishek Dudhaiya have come together to produce one such web series based on true events - Ajmer Files. This fictionalized series is an interpretation of the real-life events of the 1992 Ajmer rape and blackmail scandal that had gripped the nation in fear & horror. Ajmer Files will be the first web series produced by Tips Films Ltd.

Talking about the recent venture of Tips into producing web series, Kumar Taurani - MD & Chairman of Tips Industries Limited, said, "From a strategic point of view, this is an amazing opportunity for us. We are happy to be co-producing the series with Abhishek Dudhaiya. The storyline is carefully crafted to mimic real-life events."

Further expanding about the web series and the association, Abhishek Dudhaiya said, “This is our first co-production with Tips Films. We’re happy and excited to work on Ajmer Files. The story is very touching to the core and every Indian knows about it.”

The thing to watch out for is, who'll be directing it and which actors will bring the characters to life. But this is going to be a series that will be on the must-watch list for everyone.

The undying love of a fan makes an artist into a household name. And often, meeting fans makes a lifetime memory that the artists cherish. During their recent outstation visit, &TV lead actors Kamna Pathak, Rajesh Singh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, and Vidisha Srivastava, Anita Bhabi from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai shared heart-warming moments with their fans. And this is what they had to say about it. Kamna Pathak, essaying Rajesh Singh, shares, “For every actor, there is a fan. And these fans make the actor a household name. I feel that an artist is successful when people start recognising them by their character. It makes me happy when people call me Rajesh or, at times, Dabbang Dulhania. My show, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, has given me a lot. But I will forever be thankful for the fan following I enjoy because of this show. Whenever I go out, and somebody calls me by my character name, I feel the happiest. The amount of love our fans show us is unmatchable, and sometimes their gestures make me emotional and memorable. Like recently, I visited my hometown of Indore, as I had come to seek blessings from Mahakal in Ujjain during Mahashivratri. While exploring the famous Sarafa Bazaar, many kids approached me, addressing me as Rajesh. They also asked me, Happu Ji kahan hai? I replied, "Happu ji nyochavar lene mein busy hai’ (laughs)”. Also, during that trip, I met two ladies who came and hugged me tightly, and one of them asked me, ‘Yeh 9 bacchon ko kaise sambhal leti hai aap? Humse toh two nahi sambhale jaate, which was very amusing. Even during my Mahakal darshan, our pandit ji called me Rajesh instead of Kamna, which was overwhelming and made me feel quite accomplished. People recognising you as your character in your hometown are very special. I could not be more grateful for the love and appreciation I received from Indorians and people from Ujjain as Rajesh.”

Vidisha Srivastava, essaying Anita Bhabi, says, “Fans are an integral part of every actor's life as they are the ones to make us or break us. It is because of them that we are who we are today. They have different methods of showing love, giving feedback, and reviewing. One such fan moment I vividly remember from my recent Varanasi visit is that of a newly married couple preparing for Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. The bride saw me and immediately came running towards me with the groom and asked me to bless them on their most memorable day. More than them, I was surprised and touched by that gesture. For a moment, I felt like a guest at their wedding. The newlywed couple was happiest taking pictures with me, and I was no different. I also visited my old house at Kabir Chaura and was delighted to see some of my old neighbours and little kids calling me Anita Bhabi. Honestly, such moments are extraordinary in an actor’s life. I feel so fortunate to receive such love and appreciation for my work.”

रात्र सरताच आणि तांबडं फुटायच्या आत पिंगळा खांद्याला भिक्षेची झोळी, हातात कंदील आणि एका हातात कुरमुड घेऊन वाट सरू लागतो. पारंपरिक पद्धतीने आणि शुभचिंतन देणारा हा पिंगळा हल्ली नाहीसाच झाला आहे. सध्याच्या तरुणाईला तर हा ज्ञात नसेल वा ऐकण्यातही नसेल. याच पिंगळ्याचा नवाकोरा अंदाज 'चित्राक्ष फिल्म्स' आणि ' स्माईल स्टोन स्टुडिओ' प्रस्तुत 'टीडीएम' चित्रपटात पाहणं रंजक ठरणार आहे. विशेष म्हणजे पिंगळ्यावर असणाऱ्या या गाण्यात पिंगळा खुद्द शिवरायांची कथा ऐकवतोय ते ऐकणं नक्कीच कानांना मंत्रमुग्ध करून सोडणारं आहे.

'टीडीएम' चित्रपटातील 'पिंगळा' या गाण्यात शिवबाची कथा आणि त्यांच्या मावळ्याचा पराक्रम हा  पिंगळ्याच्या तोंडून ऐकायला मिळतोय. "अन पिंगळा गातो, राजा शिवरायांची गाथा" असे बोल असणाऱ्या आणि दिवसाची सुरुवातच मोहक करणाऱ्या अशा या पिंगळ्याने केलेली राजाची स्तुती नक्कीच कौतुकास्पद आहे. पिंगळ्याने केलेल्या या स्तुतीमध्ये 'टीडीएम' चित्रपटाचा मुख्य नायक पृथ्वीराजला त्याच्या कलागुणांना जोपासताना पाहणं ही उत्सुकतेचे ठरतंय. याच चित्रपटातील 'एक फुल' या गाण्याने तर संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्राला वेड लावलंय. आता या चित्रपटातील 'पिंगळा' हे मराठी मातीतील असं नवं कोर गाणं रसिक प्रेक्षकांच्या भेटीस आलं आहे. या गाण्याच्या संगीताची आणि गायनाची बाजू गायक वैभव शिरोळे यांनी उत्तमरीत्या पेलवली आहे, यांत वादच नाही. तर या गाण्याला दशरथ भाऊराव शिरोळे यांनी शब्दबद्ध केले आहे.

'चित्राक्ष फिल्म्स' आणि ' स्माईल स्टोन स्टुडिओ' प्रस्तुत 'टीडीएम' चित्रपटाच्या निर्मितीची आणि दिग्दर्शनाची धुरा भाऊराव नानासाहेब कऱ्हाडे यांनी पेलवली आहे. 'ख्वाडा' आणि 'बबन' चित्रपटाच्या अभूतपूर्व यशानंतर एक आगळावेगळा विषय ते या चित्रपटातून मांडण्यास सज्ज झाले आहेत. 'ख्वाडा' आणि 'बबन'  चित्रपटातील गाणी तर आजही लोकांना भुरळ पाडतायत यातच आता भर घालत 'टीडीएम' चित्रपटातील गाणीही प्रेक्षकांच्या मनाचा ठाव घेत आहेत. एक फुल या गाण्याने तर धुमाकूळ घातलाच आहे आता शिवबाची स्तुती करणार पिंगळा हे गाणं रसिक प्रेक्षकांच्या दिलाचा ठेका घेईल यांत वादच नाही. २८ एप्रिल २०२३ ला हा चित्रपट संपूर्ण महाराष्ट्रात रिलीज होणार आहे.
