Actors share their memorable journeys on National

Tourism Day!

Travel is more than just a journey; it is a soulful experience that enriches our lives, creates cherished memories, and connects us to the world in profound ways. On this National Tourism Day, &TV actors take us through their recent adventures. These include Smita Sable (Dhaniya from Bheema), Geetanjali Mishra (Rajesh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Shubhangi Atre (Angoori Bhabhi from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai). Smita Sable, aka Dhaniya from Bheema, shares, “Recently, I had the wonderful opportunity to visit Mahabaleshwar with my family, and it turned out to be a trip filled with joy and relaxation.

Nestled in the lap of the Western Ghats, Mahabaleshwar’s lush greenery and cool breeze instantly made us feel at peace. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Wilson Point, also known as Sunrise Point, where we witnessed the most breathtaking sunrise. Watching the golden hues of the sun spread over the hills was a magical moment that filled us with awe and gratitude. We also explored Venna Lake, where we enjoyed a serene boat ride surrounded by stunning views of the lake and the forested hills. Another memorable experience was visiting Mapro Garden. The delightful array of strawberries, fresh juices, and the famous strawberry cream was a treat for our taste buds. It was heartwarming to see my family savour the flavours and enjoy the garden's vibrant atmosphere. Mahabaleshwar offered us a much-needed break from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The trip not only rejuvenated our spirits but also gave us cherished memories of laughter, love, and togetherness.”

Geetanjali Mishra, aka Rajesh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, reflects, “Visiting the Taj Mahal has always been a dream, and I finally had the chance to experience its unparalleled beauty recently. As I stood before this iconic symbol of love, I was struck by its grandeur and timeless charm. The white marble, intricate carvings, and the way the monument glows under the sunlight truly took my breath away. Walking through the lush gardens of the Taj, I felt a sense of peace and awe, imagining the love story behind its creation. The Yamuna River flowing gracefully in the background added grace  to the ambience. Standing on the marble platform and gazing at the majestic dome, I could not help but admire the craftsmanship and dedication that went into building this wonder. The Taj Mahal is not just a monument; it is an experience that touches your heart. This trip was not just about sightseeing—it was about connecting with history and experiencing the beauty of love in its purest form.” Shubhangi Atre, aka Angoori Bhabhi from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “This year began with an incredible spiritual journey that left me feeling truly blessed. My first stop was Varanasi, a city that radiates divine energy and unparalleled serenity. Walking along the ghats of the Ganga and witnessing the mesmerizing Ganga Aarti in the evening was nothing short of magical. The chants, the aroma of incense, and the sight of lamps floating on the river created an ethereal atmosphere. Offering prayers at the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple was a deeply emotional moment, connecting me to my spiritual roots in a way I had never experienced before. After Varanasi, I embarked on my spiritual journey to Ujjain, where I visited the revered Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. The temple's divine atmosphere and the chance to offer prayers to Lord Shiva filled my heart with immense gratitude. The city’s rich history and sacred energy left me in awe.”

agat Sarkar Stands Out in Chennai Singams’ Promising ISPL Season 2 Opener

Jagat Sarkar Stands Out in Chennai Singams’ Promising ISPL Season 2 Opener

Mumbai, 27 th January 2025: Suriya – the superstar – was present at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane to egg Chennai Singams on for its maiden outing of the Indian Street Premier League T10 tournament. Despite the co-owner’s presence outside the boundary ropes, it was a former Singam that took the game away from the Singams as Falcon Risers Hyderabad won the duel by eight wickets and with three overs to spare. Riding on captain Bablu Patil’s cameo of 19 runs off five balls, the Falcons overhauled a target of 73 at the end of the seventh over. Patil – who was an integral part of the Chennai Singams last year – took on Devid Gogoi in the 50-50 over and finished the game. In fact, Gogoi started the 50-50 over – an ISPL innovation that either adds half the runs that actual runs scored (10 or more) bonus runs or deducts penalty runs (up to 9) to the batting team – on an ideal note by dismissing Shreyas Kadam. The next ball was a full-toss and Patil hit it straight to the midwicket boundary but despite being caught, he survived as the umpire adjudged it a no-ball. Patil was then given another reprieve two balls later with a difficult chance spilling for a one- bounced four. He then made the most by finishing the game off with two consecutive sixes. With the Falcons having scored 21 runs in the over, it meant they were awarded seven bonus runs and thus the match came to an end. Earlier in the evening, left-handed opener Jagat Sarkar (22 off 8 balls, 1x4, 2x6) got the Singams off the blocks rapidly. However, it lost the momentum with both the openers being dismissed off successive balls in the second over. While “Biker Man” Ketan Mhatre was caught at mid-off, Sarkar was unfortunately run-out off the next ball. It forced veteran Sumeet Dhekale to play out the middle overs with caution. However, the Singams could not accelerate starting with the seventh over, which was chosen as the 50-50 over. It could add just seven runs and was thus penalised four. In the end, the 50-50 over resulted in being a major point of difference. Despite starting its campaign with a loss, the Chennai Singams are looking forward to bounce back strongly against KVN Bangalore Strikers on Tuesday.

Brief scores: Chennai Singams 68/8 in 10 overs (Jagat Sarkar 22, Rahul Sawant 14; Parveen Kumar 2- 14, Vicky Bhoir 2-18) lost to Falcon Risers Hyderabad 73/2 in 7 overs (Padmesh Mhatre 23*, Bablu Patil 19*; Jignesh Patel 1/20).

India Meteorological Department and 1Weather bring weather alerts to 235 million Indians on their Glance Lock Screen

 The partnership will transform how millions of Indians stay safe and prepared through real-time critical weather updates on their lock screen

Bangalore, 27 January, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and InMobi’s 1Weather, a global leading weather app, have formed a unique strategic partnership to deliver national weather warnings and alerts to millions of Indians on their Glance-enabled smartphone lock screens. The Letter of Agreement (LoA) between IMD and InMobi will enable 235 million Indian smartphone users to stay informed about critical weather conditions instantly, without having to unlock their phones. This distinctive experience will not only help citizens stay safe and prepared but also facilitate swift action at scale during emergency situations. IMD employs advanced numerical weather prediction models to analyze and forecast critical weather conditions, continually enhancing this capability. Long-term and large-scale weather alerts for events such as cyclones, low-pressure systems, and depressions can be predicted 3 to 5 days in advance, allowing people to prepare and minimize potential loss of life or property. Additionally, hyper localised alerts provide timely warnings for short-term events such as localised heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hailstorms, or dusty winds which may last only for a few hours. The distribution of these alerts will now be accessible directly on smartphone lock screens, enabling wider reach and quicker dissemination of critical information with the help of 1Weather and Glance.

Glance is an AI-driven platform that delivers diverse, personalized, relevant, and serendipitous experiences directly to the lock screens of Android smartphones, allowing the users to access content without unlocking their phones, searching or downloading multiple apps. This makes it an essential platform for timely content such as weather alerts, enabling people to notice and act instantly. Additionally, localisation plays an integral part of this communication as Glance can adapt alerts to suit the location and visual preferences of users across different regions, ensuring the information is accessible and easily understood by people throughout the country. Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General, IMD said, "IMD is continuously enhancing its capabilities to improve weather and climate services. As we celebrate the 150-year milestone, we are further committed to innovating to build a better climate future for India. With the use of smart AI and strategic partnerships such as InMobi and 1Weather, we are optimistic of achieving newer and quicker ways of sharing life-saving weather alerts.” Srikanth Subramanian, Vice President and General Manager of 1Weather, said, “At 1Weather, we believe that this first of its kind collaboration, between 1Weather and IMD, will alert users ahead of time on severe weather right on their Android lock screens, and help them prepare better, saving precious lives in the process. We truly believe in helping people own their day with actionable weather insights. After success in the USA, we are hoping to reshape the climate story in India too and make a larger difference to society at large.” The weather alerts feature represents Glance's commitment to social responsibility through its Glance for Good program. This initiative uses Glance's AI-powered platform and vast reach to leverage its platform for social impact, which includes initiatives in public safety, disaster preparedness, and community well-being. "Weather affects everyone, from daily commuters to farmers. Through Glance for Good, we're democratizing access to critical weather data and ensuring it reaches those who need it most," added Bikash Chowdhury, Chief Marketing Officer at InMobi and Glance. "Our mission is to use technology not just for information and experiences, but as a force for social good." These live updates will be available soon on the Glance lock screen and later through the 1Weather app, which is available on the Google Play Store, across all major Android smartphone brands in India. 1Weather is one of the top 5 weather apps in the USA and LATAM regions.

Actors recall their fond Republic Day memories from School days!

Republic Day is celebrated with great fervor and enthusiasm, symbolizing the spirit of

unity and patriotism. &TV actors, take a nostalgic trip down memory lane, sharing

how they celebrated Republic Day during their school years. These include Smita

Sable (Dhaniya from Bheema), Geetanjali Mishra (Rajesh from Happu Ki Ultan

Paltan), and Vidisha Srivastava (Anita Bhabi from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai). Smita Sable,

aka Dhaniya in Bheema, adds, “For me, Republic Day was synonymous with cultural

programs at school. I loved being part of skits and dances that showcased India’s

freedom struggle and vibrant culture. The rehearsals were as enjoyable as the

performances. Those celebrations were not just about the performances but about

being part of a larger celebration of our nation and its incredible journey. May we all

work together to uphold the values of our Constitution and create a brighter future

for our nation.”

Geetanjali Mishra, aka Rajesh in Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, recalls, “As a child, Republic

Day celebrations at school began with an inspiring assembly, where we recited

patriotic poems like ‘Jhansi Ki Rani’ and ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai.’ I eagerly participated in

elocution competitions, diving deep into stories of India’s independence and the

making of our Constitution. The flag hoisting ceremony, with the national anthem

playing, was deeply moving. We stood still, saluting the flag with immense pride and

respect. At home, my family and I would watch the Republic Day parade on television,

admiring the bravery of soldiers and the colorful tableaux representing India’s diverse

states. Those moments taught me the importance of unity, diversity, and service to

the nation—lessons I carry with me today.” Vidisha Srivastava, aka Anita Bhabi in

Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “Republic Day celebrations in school were grand events

that brought everyone together. I have vivid memories of participating in group

dances and wearing outfits in the colors of our national flag—orange, white, and

green. Performing songs like ‘Vande Mataram’ and ‘Desh Rangeela’ was exhilarating.

The stories and speeches shared by our teachers about the making of the Constitution

inspired us to dream big and contribute to our nation’s progress. Those celebrations

instilled in me eternal love for our country that only grows stronger with time.”
