Mumbai. The Indian Embassy in Iraq successfully rescued 15 Indian crew members after an attack on an oil tanker near the Basra coast on 11 March. The embassy is in constant contact with its citizens and the local administration, and the rescued Indians have been moved to a safe location.

The situation in West Asia remains fragile due to the ongoing conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States. Amid these tensions, the crude oil tanker “Seaface Vishnu”, flying the flag of the Marshall Islands and reportedly owned by a U.S. company, was attacked near Basra in Iraq. According to media reports, the attack was carried out by an Iranian suicide boat. Unfortunately, one Indian crew member lost his life in the incident.

Due to the heightened tensions in the region, officials at the Indian Embassy in Baghdad were already on alert and closely monitoring developments in the area. As soon as the incident was reported, the embassy immediately arranged for the remaining 15 Indian crew members to be moved to a safe location.

In a post on the social media platform X, the Indian Embassy said, “On March 11, 2026, a US-owned crude oil tanker Safesea Vishnu, sailing under the Marshall Islands flag, was attacked near Basra, Iraq, in which one Indian crew member unfortunately lost his life. The remaining 15 Indian crew have since been evacuated to a safe place. Embassy of India Baghdad is in regular contact with Iraqi authorities and rescued Indian sailors and is offering all possible assistance. Embassy extends its deepest condolences to the family members of the deceased crew member.”

Meanwhile, India’s Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) has, as a precautionary measure, declared the Persian Gulf, the Strait of Hormuz, and the Gulf of Oman as high-risk areas. As part of security protocols, all Indian-flagged vessels have been instructed to maintain round-the-clock surveillance, increase position reporting, and test their Ship Security Alert Systems.

In a separate statement, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “Nearly 10 million Indians live across GCC countries. The welfare of our diaspora is our highest priority. The Prime Minister has spoken with leaders of several countries in the region, including the UAE, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Bahrain, Jordan, Kuwait, and Israel. The External Affairs Minister is also in regular contact with his counterparts in these countries as well as Iran.”

महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या सांस्कृतिक कार्य विभाग तसेच महाराष्ट्र चित्रपट, रंगभूमी आणि सांस्कृतिक विकास महामंडळ (Film City) यांच्या अंतर्गत साकारण्यात येत असलेल्या राष्ट्रसंत तुकडोजी महाराज यांच्या जीवनावर आधारित पहिल्या फीचर फिल्म ‘खंजिरीचे बोल’ या मराठी चित्रपटाचा मुहूर्त क्लॅप आज मुंबई येथे उत्साहात संपन्न झाला. या चित्रपटाचा मुहूर्त सांस्कृतिक कार्यमंत्री माननीय अॅड. आशिष शेलार यांच्या हस्ते पार पडताच चित्रपटाच्या शूटिंगलाही अधिकृत सुरुवात झाली. या चित्रपटाचे चित्रीकरण लवकरच कोल्हापूर येथे सुरू होणार आहे.

एकेकाळी समाज प्रबोधन, ग्रामविकास, राष्ट्रभक्ती आणि भक्तीचा संदेश देण्यासाठी कीर्तन हे प्रभावी माध्यम मानले जात होते. संतांच्या कीर्तनातून समाजाला सकारात्मक दिशा मिळत असे. मात्र आधुनिक काळात ही परंपरा हळूहळू मागे पडताना दिसत आहे. अशा परिस्थितीत राष्ट्रसंत तुकडोजी महाराज यांच्या विचारधारा, कार्यपद्धती आणि समाजासाठी केलेले कार्य व्यापक स्तरावर लोकांपर्यंत पोहोचवण्यासाठी महाराष्ट्र शासनाने हा महत्त्वपूर्ण उपक्रम हाती घेतला आहे. त्यांच्या कार्याची प्रेरणा आणि समाजप्रबोधनाची परंपरा महाराष्ट्रासह देशभरातील लोकांपर्यंत पोहोचवण्याचा प्रयत्न या चित्रपटाच्या माध्यमातून केला जाणार आहे.

या चित्रपटाचे दिग्दर्शन अनंत महादेवन करत असून लेखन श्रीकांत बोजेवार यांनी केले आहे. चित्रपटाचे छायाचित्रण हिमांशु दुबे यांचे असून संगीत कौशल इनामदार यांनी दिले आहे. तर चित्रपटाचे कला दिग्दर्शक संतोष फुटाणे आहेत.

महाराष्ट्र शासनाचा सांस्कृतिक कार्य विभाग तसेच महाराष्ट्र चित्रपट, रंगभूमी आणि सांस्कृतिक विकास महामंडळ (फिल्म सिटी) निर्मित, इन असोसिएशन विथ कल्चर कॅनव्हास एंटरटेनमेंट प्रोडक्शन च्या सहयोगाने हा चित्रपट निर्मित करण्यात येत आहे. या चित्रपटाची सह-निर्मिती शिवम यादव आणि कार्तिकी यादव यांनी केली असून, हा चित्रपट राष्ट्रसंत तुकडोजी महाराज यांच्या जीवनकार्यावर आधारित आहे. त्यांच्या समाजप्रबोधनाच्या कार्याचा, कीर्तन परंपरेचा आणि ग्रामगीतेच्या माध्यमातून दिलेल्या विचारांचा प्रभावी पट या चित्रपटातून उलगडला जाणार आहे.

मराठी चित्रपटसृष्टीत आघाडीच्या नायिकेला पोलिसांच्या वर्दीत पाहणं हे तसं दुर्मिळच. मात्र आगामी *‘सालबर्डी’* चित्रपटात ही चौकट मोडत पूजा सावंत एका करारी, निर्भीड आणि तडफदार पोलिस अधिकाऱ्याच्या भूमिकेत प्रेक्षकांसमोर येत आहे. पी.आय.मनोरमा प्रधान असं  तिच्या व्यक्तिरेखेचं  नाव आहे. नुकताच *'सालबर्डी'* या चित्रपटाचा दमदार टिझर आणि कलाकारांचे प्रभावी पोस्टर दिमाखात प्रदर्शित करण्यात आले असून, त्याने प्रेक्षकांची उत्सुकता कमालीची वाढवली आहे.

मुंबई, १ मार्च २०२६: मुंबईतील मुंबईमधील जिओ वर्ल्ड ड्राईव्ह, बांद्रा कुर्ला कॉम्प्लेक्स येथे आज पहिल्यांदाच आयोजित करण्यात आलेल्या ‘मेघालय स्पाइस फेस्टिव्हल’चे उद्घाटन झाले. या निमित्ताने मेघालय राज्याच्या झपाट्याने वाढणाऱ्या सेंद्रिय मसाला अर्थव्यवस्थेचे राष्ट्रीय स्तरावर भव्य प्रदर्शन घडले. आपल्या ठाम भूमिकेचा प्रत्यय देत शेतकरी, उद्योजक, सहकारी संस्थांचे नेते आणि वरिष्ठ अधिकारी अशा १४० सदस्यीय प्रतिनिधीमंडळाने मेघालयहून मुंबईत येऊन खरेदीदारांशी थेट संवाद साधला.

उद्घाटनाच्या दिवशी मोठी गर्दी, खरेदीदार-विक्रेता यांच्यात सातत्यपूर्ण संवाद तसेच मसाले आणि पर्यटन क्षेत्रातील संरचित बी२जी (बिजनेस-टू-गव्हर्नमेंट) बैठका पार पडल्या. ‘मेघालयच्या सेंद्रिय मसाला परिसंस्थेतील संधी’ या विषयावरील उच्चस्तरीय मंचाने धोरणात्मक चर्चेला दिशा दिली. प्रत्यक्ष प्रक्रिया प्रात्यक्षिके, चव चाखण्याचे काउंटर आणि विशेष रिटेल प्रदर्शनांमुळे संपूर्ण स्थळ एका सक्रिय बाजारपेठेत रूपांतरित झाले. खरेदी करार, निर्यात चौकशी आणि भागीदारीविषयी चर्चा दिवसभर सुरू राहिल्या, ज्यातून गंभीर व्यावसायिक रस दिसून आला.

मेघालय स्पाइस फेस्टिव्हलचा उद्देश राज्यातील उच्च दर्जाच्या सेंद्रिय मसाल्यांना राष्ट्रीय आणि आंतरराष्ट्रीय बाजारपेठेत व्यापक व्यासपीठ उपलब्ध करून देणे हा आहे. पहिल्याच आवृत्तीत मुंबईसह देश-विदेशातील खरेदीदारांचे लक्ष वेधण्यात यश आले आहे. भारताची व्यापारी राजधानी असलेल्या मुंबईत हा महोत्सव आयोजित करून मेघालय सरकारने आपल्या मसाल्यांना प्रीमियम देशांतर्गत आणि जागतिक बाजारपेठेत स्थान मिळवून देण्याचा स्पष्ट प्रयत्न दर्शविला आहे. तसेच या वाढीचा थेट फायदा शेतकऱ्यांच्या उत्पन्नवाढीत व्हावा, यासाठी हा महोत्सव राज्यातील शेतकरी आणि मसाला उद्योजकांना राष्ट्रीय किरकोळ विक्रेते, संस्थात्मक खरेदीदार आणि जागतिक निर्यातदारांशी जोडणारे एक धोरणात्मक व्यासपीठ म्हणून संकल्पित करण्यात आला आहे.

मेघालय सरकारचे मुख्य सचिव डॉ. शकील पी. अहमद, आयएएस यांनी राज्याच्या कृषी पायाभूत व्यवस्थेची प्रामाणिकता अधोरेखित करत उद्योग क्षेत्रातील प्रतिनिधींना उत्पादकांशी थेट संवाद साधण्याचे आवाहन केले. ते म्हणाले, “आपण आमच्या उद्योजकांशी आणि शेतकऱ्यांशी थेट संवाद साधला तर प्रामाणिकता, निष्ठा आणि दर्जा काय असतो हे जाणवेल.” ते पुढे म्हणाले, “मुळात आमचे शेतकरी निसर्गाचा आदर करतात आणि त्याचे संरक्षण करू इच्छितात; म्हणूनच आमच्याकडे सर्वात स्वच्छ नद्या, स्वच्छ गावे आणि स्वच्छ नेतृत्व आहे.”

मेघालय सरकारच्या कृषी व शेतकरी कल्याण विभागाचे आयुक्त व सचिव डॉ. विजय कुमार डी., आयएएस यांनी राज्याच्या वाढत्या बाजारपेठीय उपस्थितीवर प्रकाश टाकला. त्यांनी सांगितले की मेघालयची हळद सध्या देशांतर्गत बाजारपेठेसोबतच अमेरिका, मध्यपूर्व आणि युरोपमध्येही पोहोचली आहे, तसेच यंदा आल्याची निर्यात सिंगापूरला करण्यात आली आहे. शाश्वत भागीदारीवर भर देत ते म्हणाले, “आम्हाला शाश्वत शेतीवर विश्वास ठेवणारे खरेदीदार हवे आहेत. आमची उत्पादने योग्य बाजारपेठेत नेऊन शेतकऱ्यांना योग्य दर देणारे भागीदार आम्हाला हवे आहेत.”

सहभागाच्या प्रमाणाचा उल्लेख करत त्यांनी ठामपणे सांगितले, “जगातील सर्वोत्तम हळद आमच्याकडे आहे. आम्ही जिथेही जातो, तिथे हीच कथा सांगतो.” तसेच राज्यातील सर्वात मोठ्या मसाला-प्रक्रिया प्रकल्पाचे उद्घाटन येत्या काही महिन्यांत होणार असल्याची माहिती देत त्यांनी मूल्यवर्धन आणि बाजारपेठीय तयारी अधिक बळकट होणार असल्याचे नमूद केले.

नाईंटी नाईन प्रॉडक्शन्स आणि सिद्धिविनायक प्रॉडक्शन्स निर्मित या चित्रपटाचे लेखन, दिग्दर्शन समीर आशा पाटील यांनी केले आहे. विजय शिंदे आणि नरेश बोर्डे या चित्रपटाचे निर्माते असून उमेश कुमार बन्सल आणि बवेश जानवलेकर सादरकर्ते आहेत. तर छायांकन संजय जाधव यांनी केले आहे. या चित्रपटात निर्मिती सावंत, शशांक शेंडे, हृषिकेश जोशी, नम्रता संभेराव, कुशल बद्रिके, प्रतीक्षा कोते यांच्यासह ललित प्रभाकर आणि विदुला चौगुले मुख्य भूमिकेत झळकणार आहेत. एवढ्या भल्या मोठ्या कलाकारांच्या फौजेमुळे ‘सुपर डुपर’ हा खऱ्या अर्थाने मल्टिस्टारर ठरणार असून, प्रत्येकाची वेगळी शैली आणि विनोदी टायमिंग चित्रपटाला अधिक रंगतदार बनवणार आहे.

दिग्दर्शक समीर आशा पाटील म्हणतात,

“टीझर हा आमच्या चित्रपटाच्या स्वभावाची पहिली खरी झलक आहे. एका घरातल्या दोन भिन्न विचारसरणी जेव्हा समोरासमोर येतात, तेव्हा निर्माण होणारा गोंधळ, विनोद आणि त्यामागची भावनिक बाजू आम्ही हलक्या-फुलक्या पद्धतीने मांडली आहे. ‘सुपर डुपर’ हा विनोदी चित्रपट आहे, याशिवाय नात्यांमधल्या आपुलकीचा, पिढ्यांमधल्या अंतराचा आणि त्या अंतरावर मात करण्याच्या प्रवासाचा चित्रपटही आहे. प्रेक्षकांनी संपूर्ण कुटुंबासह थिएटरमध्ये येऊन हा अनुभव घ्यावा, हीच अपेक्षा.”

या चित्रपटाबद्दल झी स्टुडिओज् मराठीचे व्यवसाय प्रमुख बवेश जानवलेकर म्हणाले की, ‘’ ‘सुपर डुपर’ ही अतिशय वेगळ्या धाटणीची धमाल कौटुंबिक कथा आहे . यातील एकाहून एक मातब्बर कलाकारांची फौज हे या चित्रपटाचं बलस्थान आहे. लेखन, दिग्दर्शन, संगीत आणि निर्मिती मूल्ये या सर्वच पातळ्यांवर हा चित्रपट सरस झाला आहे. यामुळे यंदाच्या उन्हाळ्याच्या सुट्टीत मनोरंजनाचं एक परिपूर्ण पॅकेज यातून प्रेक्षकांना मिळेल हे नक्की."

Mumbai, 27 February 2026 – The 26th Annual National Conference of the Indian Society of Extracorporeal Technology (ISECT), ISECTCON 2026, was inaugurated today at Hotel Aurika Mumbai Sky City in the presence of leading cardiac care specialists, perfusionists, healthcare professionals and dignitaries.

Centered on the theme “Next-Gen Perfusion: AI, Robotics, and Personalized Care,” the two-day conference has brought together experts from across India and overseas to discuss how technology is transforming cardiac surgery and critical care.

While the term “heart surgeon” is widely understood, the role of a perfusionist remains largely unknown to the public. A perfusionist is the trained healthcare professional who operates the heart-lung machine during open-heart surgery. When a surgeon temporarily stops the heart to perform a procedure, it is the perfusionist who ensures that oxygen-rich blood continues to circulate throughout the patient’s body. Their role is crucial not only in heart surgeries but also in life-support systems such as ECMO, which supports patients with severe heart or lung failure.

Despite being central to life-saving procedures, perfusionists often work behind the scenes, receiving limited public recognition. ISECTCON 2026 seeks to bridge this awareness gap, while also addressing the need for stronger professional recognition, structured training pathways and wider understanding of perfusion science within India’s healthcare ecosystem.

The scientific sessions on Day 1 focused on advancements in perfusion practice, pediatric cardiac care and the growing integration of Artificial Intelligence and robotics in surgical support systems. A special debate titled “Evidence vs Experience” encouraged open dialogue on balancing data-driven decisions with clinical expertise. The inauguration ceremony also honored senior professionals with Lifetime Achievement Awards for their contribution to the field.

Day 2 will focus on advanced strategies in complex cardiac procedures and the evolving role of ECMO as a bridge to recovery and transplant. A scientific quiz and the society’s General Body Meeting are also part of the program.

Speaking at the inauguration, Ravindra Sawardekar, Organising Secretary, ISECTCON said,“Many people know the heart surgeon who performs the operation, but very few know the perfusionist who keeps the patient alive during that surgery. Artificial Intelligence is not here to replace clinical judgment. It is here to support it. By integrating AI into perfusion systems, we can improve accuracy, enhance patient safety and make faster, better-informed decisions in critical moments. Our responsibility is to adapt, learn and ensure that perfusion-science strengthens patient care.”He further added,“In India, there is a lack of awareness about the important field of perfusion, along with a shortage of trained professionals. With the number of heart surgeries and life-support treatments increasing every year, the demand for perfusionists is rising rapidly. Therefore, it is extremely important to strengthen education and training in this field and ensure clear recognition at the government level.”

The conference is being led by Rajendra Kokane (ISECT President), Loknath Tiwari General Secretary ISECT), Jagannath Kalugade (Organising President), Vikas Mali (Organising Chairman), Ravindra Sawardekar (Organising Secretary), Shashikant Memane (Joint Secretary), Yogesh Ludbe (Treasurer) and Rafique Shaikh (Scientific Committee), along with senior ISECT leadership and executive members.
