डॉ. अमर अग्रवाल यांनी विकसित केलेल्या पिनहोल प्युपिलोप्लास्टीमुळे, पात्र रुग्णांमध्ये कॉर्नियल ट्रान्सप्लांटची गरज कमी होण्यास मदत झाली आहे आणि त्याचबरोबर दृष्टीसाठी उत्कृष्ट परिणामही मिळाले आहेत.

नवी मुंबईतील वाशी येथील 62 वर्षीय रहिवासी श्री. सुभाष विष्णू चाचे यांना 'डॉ. अग्रवालस् आय हॉस्पिटल मध्ये एका दुर्मिळ आणि गुंतागुंतीच्या दुहेरी शस्त्रक्रियेनंतर दृष्टी परत मिळाली आहे. श्री. सुभाष यांच्या डाव्या डोळ्यात पूर्णपणे विकसित झालेला मोतीबिंदू आणि कॉर्नियावर (बुबुळाच्या बाह्य आवरणावरील) खोल व्रण होता; ही एक दुर्मिळ आणि आव्हानात्मक स्थिती होती, ज्यामुळे जवळपास त्यांची दृष्टी गेलेली होती. रुग्णालयाच्या वडाळा येथील केंद्रातील नेत्रतज्ज्ञांच्या पथकाने मोतीबिंदूच्या शस्त्रक्रियेसोबतच पिनहोल प्युपिलोप्लास्टी (PPP) ही प्रक्रिया करून त्यांची दृष्टी यशस्वीरित्या पूर्ववत केली आहे.

श्री. सुभाष चाचे यांची दृष्टी अनेक वर्षांच्या कालावधीत हळूहळू नाहीशी झाली होती. त्यांच्या डाव्या डोळ्याच्या कॉर्नियावर (डोळ्याच्या समोरील पारदर्शक पडद्यावर) एक जाड व्रण तयार झाला होता, ज्यामुळे प्रकाश डोळ्यात योग्य प्रकारे प्रवेश करू शकत नव्हता. त्याच वेळी, पूर्णपणे विकसित झालेल्या मोतीबिंदूमुळे त्यांच्या डोळ्यातील नैसर्गिक भिंग पूर्णपणे धूसर झाले होते. त्यांच्या उजव्या डोळ्यावरही याचा गंभीर परिणाम झाला होता. ज्यांचे दैनंदिन कामकाज प्रामुख्याने स्पष्ट दृष्टीवर अवलंबून होते, अशा व्यक्तीसाठी हा परिणाम अत्यंत गंभीर होता. चेहरे ओळखणे, कोणाच्याही मदतीशिवाय चालणे आणि वाचणे यांसारख्या दैनंदिन गोष्टी करणे अधिकाधिक कठीण झाले होते. शस्त्रक्रियेपूर्वी, त्यांच्या उजव्या डोळ्याची दृष्टी इतकी कमजोर झाली होती की, त्यांना केवळ हातांची हालचाल समजत होती, तर डाव्या डोळ्याने दोन मीटर अंतरावर पाहून बोटे मोजणेही कठीण जात होते.

विविध वैद्यकीय तज्ज्ञांची मते जाणून घेतल्यानंतर, पुढील तपासणीसाठी श्री. चाचे यांनी वाशी येथील 'डॉ अग्रवालस् आय हॉस्पिटल ला भेट दिली. डॉ. प्रतीक यशवंत गोगरी यांनी केलेल्या सखोल तपासणीनंतर आणि डॉ. वंदना जैन यांच्याशी केलेल्या पुढील चर्चेनंतर, त्यांना या गुंतागुंतीच्या शस्त्रक्रियेसाठी वडाळा येथील केंद्रातील तज्ज्ञ शस्त्रक्रिया पथकाकडे (स्पेशालिस्ट सर्जिकल टीम) पाठवण्यात आले.

ही शस्त्रक्रिया करणारे डॉ अग्रवालस् आय हॉस्पिटल, वडाळा येथील मोतीबिंदू शस्त्रक्रिया तज्ज्ञ डॉ. स्मित एम. बावरिया यांनी स्पष्ट केले, "या रुग्णाच्या दृष्टीमध्ये अडथळा आणणाऱ्या दोन स्वतंत्र समस्या होत्या." मोतीबिंदूमुळे प्रकाशकिरणे भिंगातून पलीकडे जाण्यास अडथळा निर्माण होत होता, तर कॉर्नियावरील व्रणामुळे आत प्रवेश करू शकणाऱ्या अल्पशा प्रकाशाचेदेखील विखुरण होत होते. केवळ मोतीबिंदू काढून टाकणे हा पर्याय पुरेसा ठरला नसता. त्यामुळे, आम्ही मोतीबिंदूच्या शस्त्रक्रियेसोबतच 'पिनहोल प्युपिलोप्लास्टी' ही प्रक्रिया केली; ज्यामध्ये बुबुळाचा आकार लहान करण्यासाठी आणि ते मध्यभागी आणण्यासाठी त्याचा आकार व स्थान काळजीपूर्वक बदलले जाते. कागदाच्या तुकड्यातील एका लहान छिद्रातून (पिनहोलमधून) पाहण्यासारखी ही प्रक्रिया आहे. प्रकाश अधिक अचूकपणे केंद्रित केल्यामुळे, कॉर्नियावर व्रण असूनही दृष्टीची स्पष्टता लक्षणीयरीत्या सुधारते. एकाच प्रक्रियेद्वारे दोन्ही समस्यांचे निराकरण केल्यामुळे, कॉर्निया प्रत्यारोपणाची (नेत्रपटल प्रत्यारोपणाची) गरज न भासता आम्ही श्री. सुभाष चाचे यांना दृष्टीबाबत उत्कृष्ट परिणाम मिळवून देऊ शकलो."

रुग्णाची सर्वप्रथम तपासणी करणारे वाशी येथील सल्लागार नेत्ररोगतज्ज्ञ डॉ. प्रतीक यशवंत गोगरी म्हणाले, "जेव्हा श्री. चाचे पहिल्यांदा आमच्याकडे आले, तेव्हा त्यांनी याआधी अनेक वैद्यकीय तज्ज्ञांचा सल्ला घेतला होता आणि आपल्या प्रकृतीबाबत ते साहजिकच चिंतेत होते. सखोल तपासणीनंतर आमच्या असे लक्षात आले की, त्यांची स्थिती आव्हानात्मक असली तरी त्यात नक्कीच आशेचा किरण होता." आम्हाला कॉर्नियावर किती तीव्र व्रण आहेत हे मोजायचे होते, मोतीबिंदूची तपासणी करायची होती आणि त्यांच्यासाठी पिनहोल पद्धत उपयुक्त ठरेल का, हे निश्चित करायचे होते. आमचे हे निदान अचूक ठरले, याचा आम्हाला आनंद आहे.

जवळपास 85 टक्के रुग्णांना वाहन चालवण्यास योग्य अशी दृष्टी प्राप्त झाली, तसेच या तंत्रामुळे प्रत्यक्ष वैद्यकीय उपचारांमध्ये कॉर्निया प्रत्यारोपणाच्या शस्त्रक्रियांचे प्रमाण 15 ते 25 टक्क्यांनी कमी होण्यास मदत झाली आहे.

श्री. चाचे यांच्यावरील शस्त्रक्रिया ही सुमारे एक तास चालली; गुंतागुंतीच्या स्वरूपामुळे ती मोतीबिंदूच्या नेहमीच्या शस्त्रक्रियेपेक्षा बरीच जास्त वेळ चालली होती. शस्त्रक्रिया करणाऱ्या टीमला व्रणयुक्त कॉर्नियामधून शस्त्रक्रिया करावी लागली, तसेच दृष्टी सुधारण्यासाठी बाहुलीला अचूकपणे आकार देणारी एक अत्यंत विशेष प्रक्रिया, पिनहोल प्युपिलोप्लास्टी (PPP), देखील करावी लागली. एकाच शस्त्रक्रियेद्वारे दोन्ही समस्यांवर उपचार करण्याचा निर्णय अत्यंत विचारपूर्वक घेण्यात आला; यामुळे श्री. चाचे यांना कॉर्निया प्रत्यारोपणाशी संबंधित धोके, बरे होण्यासाठी लागणारा अधिक कालावधी आणि संभाव्य गुंतागुंत यांपासून वाचवता आले.

या शास्त्रक्रियेचे परिणाम आयुष्य बदलणारे ठरले आहेत. शस्त्रक्रियेनंतर श्री. चाचे यांची दूरची दृष्टी सुधारून 6/9 इतकी झाली, ज्यामुळे त्यांना चेहरे ओळखणे, दूरदर्शन पाहणे आणि आत्मविश्वासाने फिरणे यांसारखी दैनंदिन कामे स्वतंत्रपणे करणे शक्य झाले आहे. त्यांची जवळची दृष्टीही सुधारून 'N8' इतकी झाली, ज्यामुळे त्यांना सामान्य आकाराचे अक्षर सहजपणे वाचणे शक्य झाले. शस्त्रक्रियेपूर्वी त्यांना दृष्टीशी संबंधित ज्या गंभीर समस्यांचा सामना करावा लागत होता, त्या तुलनेत ही एक लक्षणीय सुधारणा होती. त्यांच्या उपचारांचा एक भाग म्हणून, त्यांना डॉक्टरांनी सांगितलेले अँटीबायोटिक आणि दाहशामक डोळ्याचे थेंब वापरण्याचा, बरे होण्याच्या काळात डोळा चोळणे व जास्त शारीरिक हालचाल टाळण्याचा, तसेच त्यांची प्रकृती सुरळीतपणे सुधारेल याची खात्री करण्यासाठी आणि डोळ्यांच्या आरोग्यावर लक्ष ठेवण्यासाठी नियमित तपासणीसाठी येण्याचा सल्ला देण्यात आला आहे.

मराठी चित्रपटांत स्त्री विषयक समस्यांचा मागोवा घेणाऱ्या उत्तमोत्तम चित्रपटांची मोठी परंपरा आहे. हीच परंपरा पुढे नेणारा 'बंधिनी' हा चित्रपट येत्या ९ ऑक्टोबरला आपल्या भेटीला येणार आहे. नुकताच या चित्रपटाचा पोस्टर अनावरण सोहळा संपन्न झाला. यावेळी चित्रपटाची संपूर्ण टीम उपस्थित होती.  

सत्या फिल्म्स कंपनी निर्मित, सतीश वाघेला लिखित आणि संतोष मांजरीकर दिग्दर्शित 'बंधिनी' हा चित्रपट एका स्त्रीच्या भावनिक प्रवासाची कथा मांडतो. देविका या मध्यवर्ती पात्राभोवती फिरणारी ही कथा प्रेम, त्याग, कर्तव्य, कुटुंब आणि स्वतःच्या अस्तित्वाच्या शोधाचा संवेदनशील वेध घेते. 'बंधिनी' ही केवळ एका स्त्रीच्या संघर्षाची कथा नसून, प्रत्येक नात्यामधील प्रेम, त्याग आणि आत्मसन्मानाचा अर्थ नव्याने उलगडणारी भावनिक सफर आहे. चित्रपटात अश्विनी बागल, भूषण शिवतरे आणि योगेश तनपुरे यांच्या प्रमुख भूमिका असून, त्यांच्या प्रभावी अभिनयातून ही कथा अधिक सशक्तपणे उलगडणार आहे.

चित्रपटाचे दिग्दर्शक संतोष मांजरीकर म्हणाले, "आजच्या काळात प्रत्येक स्त्री स्वतःची स्वप्नं आणि कुटुंबाची जबाबदारी यामध्ये समतोल साधण्याचा प्रयत्न करत असते. ‘बंधिनी' हा केवळ मनोरंजन करणारा चित्रपट नाही, तर प्रत्येक कुटुंबाला आणि प्रत्येक स्त्रीला स्वतःमध्ये पाहायला लावणारा अनुभव आहे. या चित्रपटाचा विषय आणि सादरीकरण प्रेक्षकांना नक्की आवडेल असा विश्वास निर्माता सतीश वाघेला यांनी व्यक्त केला.

A team of specialist ophthalmologists at the hospital's Wadala facility successfully restored his sight by performing Pinhole Pupilloplasty (PPP) along with cataract surgery.

For Mr. Chache, the loss of vision happened gradually over the years. A dense scar had formed on the cornea, the transparent front layer of his left eye, preventing light from entering the eye properly. At the same time, the natural lens had become completely cloudy due to a mature cataract. His right eye was also severely affected. As someone whose daily work relied heavily on clear vision, the impact was devastating. 

Everyday activities such as recognising faces, walking without assistance, and reading became increasingly difficult. Before surgery, vision in his right eye had deteriorated to the point where he could only detect hand movements, while his left eye could barely count fingers from two metres away.

After exploring multiple medical opinions, Mr. Chache visited Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital in Vashi for further evaluation. Following a detailed assessment by Dr. Pratik Yeshwant Gogri and further consultation with Dr. Vandana Jain, he was referred to the specialist surgical team at the Wadala facility for the complex procedure.

Dr. Smit M. Bavariya, Cataract Surgeon, Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital, Wadala, who performed the surgery, explained, "This patient had two separate problems obstructing his vision. The cataract was blocking light from passing through the lens, while the corneal scar was distorting whatever little light managed to enter. Simply removing the cataract would not have been enough. We therefore combined the cataract surgery with Pinhole Pupilloplasty, where we carefully reshape and reposition the pupil to make it smaller and more central. Think of it like looking through a pinhole in a piece of paper. By focusing light more precisely, it significantly improves visual clarity, even through a scarred cornea. By addressing both problems in a single procedure, we were able to give Mr. Chache an outstanding visual outcome without needing a corneal transplant."

Dr. Pratik Yeshwant Gogri, Consultant Ophthalmologist, Vashi, who first evaluated the patient, said, "When Mr. Chache first came to us, he had already explored multiple medical opinions and was understandably anxious about his condition. On thorough examination, we identified that while his condition was challenging, it was not without hope. We had to map the extent of the corneal scarring, assess the cataract, and determine whether a pinhole approach would work for him. We are delighted that our assessment proved correct."

The procedure that made this possible was developed more than a decade ago by Dr. Amar Agarwal, the renowned Indian ophthalmic surgeon and Chairman of Dr Agarwals Eye Hospital. Pinhole Pupilloplasty was developed to improve vision in carefully selected patients with corneal scarring while reducing the need for corneal transplantation, particularly in a world where nearly 20 million people are waiting for donor corneas. By creating a tiny pinhole-sized pupil, the technique blocks distorted light rays and allows clearer, more focused light to reach the retina. Clinical data from 257 patients showed vision improving from an average of 20/125 before surgery to 20/32 after surgery. Nearly 85 per cent achieved driving-quality vision, while the technique has contributed to a 15–25 per cent reduction in corneal transplant surgeries in clinical practice.

Mr. Chache's surgery lasted about an hour, considerably longer than a routine cataract procedure because of its complexity. The surgical team had to operate through a scarred cornea while also performing Pinhole Pupilloplasty (PPP), a highly specialised procedure that involves precisely reshaping the pupil to improve vision. Treating both conditions in a single surgery was a carefully considered decision, allowing Mr. Chache to avoid the risks, longer recovery time, and potential complications associated with a corneal transplant.

The outcome has been life changing. Following the surgery, Mr. Chache's distance vision improved to 6/9, enabling him to carry out most everyday activities independently, including recognising faces, watching television, and moving around with confidence. His near vision also improved to N8, allowing him to comfortably read standard print. This marked a significant improvement from the severe visual impairment he had been living with before the procedure. As part of his recovery, he has been advised to use prescribed antibiotic and anti-inflammatory eye drops, avoid rubbing his eye and strenuous physical activity during the healing period, and attend regular follow-up appointments to ensure a smooth recovery and monitor his eye health.

“I had been struggling with poor vision for a long time, and it had made even simple daily activities difficult. मराठी चित्रपटसृष्टीत कलाकारांच्या पुढच्या पिढीबद्दल प्रेक्षकांना नेहमीच विशेष आकर्षण असते. अशाच एका खास योगायोगामुळे आगामी मराठी चित्रपट 'द्विधा' सध्या चर्चेचा विषय ठरला आहे. या चित्रपटात अभिनेत्री मानसी कुलकर्णी यांनी साकारलेल्या 'श्रावणी' या मध्यवर्ती व्यक्तिरेखेच्या बालपणीच्या भूमिकेत तिची कन्या ओवी दिसणार आहे. ‘द्विधा' चित्रपटाच्या निमित्ताने ही मायलेकीची जोडी एकत्र रुपेरी पडद्यावर झळकणार आहे. विशेष म्हणजे, ओवीचा मोठ्या पडद्यावरचा हा पहिलाच ‘ऑनस्क्रीन’ प्रयत्न असूनही तिने आत्मविश्वास, आणि निरागसतेने ही भूमिका साकारत सर्वांची दाद मिळवली आहे. या चित्रपटाचे लेखन आणि दिग्दर्शन निलेश भास्कर नाईक यांनी केले असून निर्माती विदुला रमेश आजगावकर आहेत. येत्या २१ ऑगस्टला हा चित्रपट सर्वत्र प्रदर्शित होत आहे.

याविषयी अभिनेत्री मानसी कुलकर्णीने सांगितलं,‘श्रावणीच्या बालपणीच्या भूमिकेसाठी ओवीची निवड हा माझ्यासाठी अत्यंत भावनिक क्षण होता. आई म्हणून तिचा पहिला ऑनस्क्रीन प्रवास पाहताना अभिमान वाटत होता, सोबत तिच्या अभिनयातील सहजता आणि आत्मविश्वास पाहून समाधान मिळालं. तिने ही भूमिका मनापासून आणि अत्यंत प्रामाणिकपणे साकारली आहे.’

पहिल्याच अभिनय अनुभवाबद्दल ओवी म्हणाली, ‘सुरुवातीला थोडी भीती वाटत होती, पण आई आणि संपूर्ण टीमने मला खूप प्रोत्साहन दिलं. त्यामुळे मी ही भूमिका आत्मविश्वासाने करू शकले. 'द्विधा'मधून प्रेक्षकांसमोर येण्याची संधी मिळाल्याचा मला खूप आनंद आहे.’

*नवी मुंबई, 28 जुलाई, 2026*: वाशी, नवी मुंबई के 62 वर्षीय निवासी श्री सुभाष विष्णु चाचे ने डॉ. अगरवाल्स आई हॉस्पिटल में एक दुर्लभ एवं जटिल दोहरी शल्यचिकित्सा कराने के बाद अपनी दृष्टि पुनः प्राप्त की है। वे अपने बाएँ नेत्र में परिपक्व मोतियाबिंद तथा घने कॉर्नियल दाग जैसी दुर्लभ और चुनौतीपूर्ण स्थिति से पीड़ित थे, जिसके कारण उनकी दृष्टि लगभग समाप्त हो चुकी थी। अगरवाल की वडाला इकाई के विशेषज्ञ नेत्र चिकित्सकों की टीम ने मोतियाबिंद शल्यचिकित्सा के साथ पिनहोल प्युपिलोप्लास्टी (पीपीपी) करके सफलतापूर्वक उनकी दृष्टि वापस ला दी।

श्री चाचे के लिए दृष्टि का ह्रास कई वर्षों में धीरे-धीरे हुआ। उनके बाएँ नेत्र की कॉर्निया, जो नेत्र की पारदर्शी अग्र परत होती है, पर एक घना दाग बन गया था, जिसके कारण प्रकाश सही प्रकार से नेत्र के भीतर प्रवेश नहीं कर पा रहा था। इसी के साथ, परिपक्व मोतियाबिंद के कारण उनके नेत्र का प्राकृतिक लेंस पूरी तरह धुंधला हो गया था। उनका दायाँ नेत्र भी गंभीर रूप से प्रभावित था। चूँकि उनके दैनिक कार्य स्पष्ट दृष्टि पर अत्यधिक निर्भर थे, इसलिए इसका प्रभाव अत्यंत गंभीर था। चेहरे पहचानना, बिना सहायता के चलना तथा पढ़ना जैसी सामान्य दैनिक गतिविधियाँ उनके लिए लगातार कठिन होती जा रही थीं। शल्यचिकित्सा से पहले, उनके बाएँ नेत्र की दृष्टि इतनी कम हो गई थी कि वे केवल हाथों की गतिविधि ही पहचान सकते थे, जबकि बाएँ नेत्र से वे दो मीटर की दूरी से मुश्किल से उंगलियाँ गिन पाते थे।

कई चिकित्सकीय परामर्श लेने के बाद, श्री चाचे आगे के मूल्यांकन के लिए वाशी स्थित डॉ. अगरवाल्स आई हॉस्पिटल पहुँचे। डॉ. प्रतीक यशवंत गोगरी द्वारा विस्तृत जाँच तथा डॉ. वंदना जैन से परामर्श के उपरांत, उन्हें इस जटिल शल्यचिकित्सा हेतु अस्पताल की वडाला इकाई में विशेषज्ञ शल्य चिकित्सा टीम के पास भेजा गया।

शल्यचिकित्सा करने वाले वडाला स्थित डॉ. अगरवाल्स आई हॉस्पिटल के मोतियाबिंद शल्यचिकित्सक डॉ. स्मित एम. बावरिया ने बताया, "इस रोगी की दृष्टि में बाधा उत्पन्न करने वाली दो अलग-अलग समस्याएँ थीं। मोतियाबिंद के कारण लेंस से होकर प्रकाश का प्रवेश रुक गया था, जबकि कॉर्निया पर मौजूद घना दाग भीतर प्रवेश करने वाले सीमित प्रकाश को भी विकृत कर रहा था। केवल मोतियाबिंद हटाना पर्याप्त नहीं होता। इसलिए हमने मोतियाबिंद शल्यचिकित्सा के साथ पिनहोल प्युपिलोप्लास्टी भी की, जिसमें हम सावधानीपूर्वक पुतली का आकार बदलकर उसे छोटा और अधिक केंद्रीय स्थिति में स्थापित करते हैं। इसे ऐसे समझा जा सकता है जैसे कागज में बने एक छोटे से छिद्र से देखना। इस प्रकार प्रकाश अधिक सटीक रूप से केंद्रित होता है, जिससे कॉर्निया पर दाग होने के बावजूद दृष्टि की स्पष्टता में उल्लेखनीय सुधार होता है। एक ही शल्यचिकित्सा में दोनों समस्याओं का उपचार करके हम श्री चाचे को कॉर्नियल प्रत्यारोपण की आवश्यकता के बिना उत्कृष्ट दृष्टि परिणाम प्रदान करने में सफल रहे।"

यह शल्य तकनीक, जिसने यह संभव बनाया, एक दशक से भी अधिक समय पहले भारत के विख्यात नेत्र शल्यचिकित्सक तथा डॉ. अगरवाल्स आई हॉस्पिटल के अध्यक्ष डॉ. अमर अगरवाल द्वारा विकसित की गई थी। पिनहोल प्युपिलोप्लास्टी का विकास विशेष रूप से उन सावधानीपूर्वक चयनित रोगियों की दृष्टि में सुधार लाने के लिए किया गया था जिनकी कॉर्निया पर दाग होते हैं, साथ ही कॉर्नियल प्रत्यारोपण की आवश्यकता को कम करने के उद्देश्य से। यह विशेष रूप से महत्वपूर्ण है क्योंकि विश्वभर में लगभग 2 करोड़ लोग दाता कॉर्निया की प्रतीक्षा कर रहे हैं। इस तकनीक में पिनहोल के आकार की एक अत्यंत छोटी पुतली बनाई जाती है, जिससे विकृत प्रकाश किरणें अवरुद्ध हो जाती हैं और अधिक स्पष्ट तथा बेहतर रूप से केंद्रित प्रकाश रेटिना तक पहुँच पाता है। 257 रोगियों पर उपलब्ध नैदानिक आँकड़ों से पता चला कि शल्यचिकित्सा से पहले औसत दृष्टि 20/125 थी, जो शल्यचिकित्सा के बाद सुधरकर 20/32 हो गई। लगभग 85 प्रतिशत रोगियों ने वाहन चलाने योग्य गुणवत्ता की दृष्टि प्राप्त की, जबकि नैदानिक अभ्यास में इस तकनीक के कारण कॉर्नियल प्रत्यारोपण शल्यचिकित्साओं में लगभग 15–25 प्रतिशत की कमी दर्ज की गई।

श्री चाचे की शल्यचिकित्सा में लगभग एक घंटे का समय लगा, जो इसकी जटिलता के कारण सामान्य मोतियाबिंद शल्यचिकित्सा की तुलना में काफी अधिक था। शल्यचिकित्सा टीम को कॉर्निया पर मौजूद घने दाग के माध्यम से शल्यचिकित्सा करनी पड़ी तथा साथ ही पिनहोल प्युपिलोप्लास्टी (पीपीपी) भी करनी पड़ी, जो एक अत्यधिक विशिष्टीकृत प्रक्रिया है। इसमें दृष्टि में सुधार के लिए पुतली का अत्यंत सटीक रूप से पुनः आकार निर्धारण किया जाता है। दोनों समस्याओं का एक ही शल्यचिकित्सा में उपचार करने का निर्णय सावधानीपूर्वक विचार-विमर्श के बाद लिया गया, जिससे श्री चाचे को कॉर्नियल प्रत्यारोपण से जुड़े जोखिमों, लंबे पुनर्प्राप्ति काल तथा संभावित जटिलताओं से बचाया जा सका।

इस शल्यचिकित्सा का परिणाम श्री चाचे के जीवन में एक महत्वपूर्ण परिवर्तन लेकर आया। शल्यचिकित्सा के बाद उनकी दूर की दृष्टि सुधरकर 6/9 हो गई, जिससे वे चेहरे पहचानने, टेलीविजन देखने तथा आत्मविश्वास के साथ स्वतंत्र रूप से आने-जाने सहित अधिकांश दैनिक कार्य स्वयं करने में सक्षम हो गए। उनकी निकट दृष्टि भी सुधरकर एन8 हो गई, जिससे वे सामान्य मुद्रित सामग्री आराम से पढ़ सकते हैं। यह उनकी शल्यचिकित्सा से पूर्व की गंभीर दृष्टि बाधा की तुलना में एक उल्लेखनीय सुधार था। उनकी स्वस्थ होने की प्रक्रिया के अंतर्गत उन्हें चिकित्सकों द्वारा निर्धारित प्रतिजैविक तथा सूजन-रोधी नेत्र बूँदों का नियमित उपयोग करने, नेत्र को रगड़ने से बचने, घाव भरने की अवधि के दौरान अत्यधिक शारीरिक परिश्रम से परहेज करने तथा सुविचार स्वास्थ्य लाभ और नेत्रों के स्वास्थ्य की निगरानी सुनिश्चित करने के लिए नियमित अनुवर्ती जाँच हेतु उपस्थित रहने की सलाह दी गई है।

राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कारप्राप्त ‘देऊळ’ आणि ‘भारतीय’ या गाजलेल्या चित्रपटांचे निर्माते अभिजित घोलप यांच्या संकल्पनेतून स्थापन झालेली नॉर्थ अमेरिकन फिल्म असोसिएशन (NAFA) ही उत्तर अमेरिकेतील मराठी आणि भारतीय चित्रपट, संस्कृती व कलावंतांना जागतिक व्यासपीठ उपलब्ध करून देणारी स्वयंसेवकांच्या सहभागातून कार्यरत असलेली एक समुदायाधारित, ना-नफा (Non-Profit) संस्था आहे. गेल्या तीन वर्षांत या महोत्सवाने उत्तर अमेरिकेत मराठी चित्रपटसृष्टीसाठी स्वतंत्र आणि प्रतिष्ठित ओळख निर्माण केली आहे.

महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या सांस्कृतिक कार्य विभागाने NAFA आंतरराष्ट्रीय चित्रपट महोत्सवाला भारताबाहेरील महाराष्ट्र शासनाचा अधिकृत मराठी चित्रपट महोत्सव म्हणून मान्यता दिली आहे. त्यामुळे पुणे आंतरराष्ट्रीय चित्रपट महोत्सव (PIFF) आणि मुंबई आंतरराष्ट्रीय माहितीपट, लघुपट व अॅनिमेशन चित्रपट महोत्सव (MIFF) यांच्या धर्तीवर, परंतु भारताबाहेर आयोजित होणारा महाराष्ट्र शासनाशी संलग्न अधिकृत मराठी चित्रपट महोत्सव म्हणून NAFA ची नवी आणि मानाची ओळख निर्माण झाली आहे.

याबाबत NAFA चे संस्थापक-अध्यक्ष अभिजित घोलप यांनी सांगितले की, "महाराष्ट्र शासनाच्या सांस्कृतिक कार्य विभागाने आमच्या प्रस्तावाला दिलेला सकारात्मक प्रतिसाद हा मराठी चित्रपटसृष्टीसाठी अभिमानास्पद आणि ऐतिहासिक क्षण आहे. याबाबत सांस्कृतिक कार्यमंत्री अॅड. आशिष शेलार यांनी सांगितले की, "मराठी चित्रपटसृष्टीला जागतिक व्यासपीठ उपलब्ध करून देणे आणि राज्यातील कलाकार, तंत्रज्ञ तसेच निर्मात्यांना आंतरराष्ट्रीय संधी उपलब्ध करून देणे हे महाराष्ट्र शासनाचे प्राधान्य आहे. NAFA सोबतचे हे सहकार्य मराठी चित्रपटसृष्टीच्या जागतिक विस्ताराच्या दिशेने टाकलेले महत्त्वपूर्ण पाऊल असून, या माध्यमातून महाराष्ट्राची समृद्ध सांस्कृतिक परंपरा आणि सर्जनशीलता जागतिक स्तरावर अधिक प्रभावीपणे पोहोचेल."

 Neeru Sharma’s Debut Film Bandra Boy Gains International Recognition at Two New York Film Festivals

Mumbai: Former entertainment journalist-turned-filmmaker Neeru Sharma has received a major boost in her filmmaking journey as her debut short film Bandra Boy earned recognition at two international film festivals in New York.

The 21-minute Hindi thriller has been named a Semifinalist at the Frames of New York Film Festival and has also been recognized as an Award Winner at the New York International Women Festival, marking a significant achievement for Sharma's first film as a writer and director.  

Bandra Boy explores themes of media narratives, public perception and the fine line between truth and opinion in the digital age. The film examines how headlines, public scrutiny and social judgment can shape a person's image long before facts emerge, a subject that has resonated with festival audiences and juries alike.

For Sharma, who spent more than two decades covering Bollywood and the entertainment industry as a journalist before moving into filmmaking, the recognition carries special significance.

“I am extremely happy and grateful that Bandra Boy, my debut film as a director, is receiving international recognition. This story comes from years of observing the entertainment industry, media culture and the way public perception is formed. Such recognition motivates me to continue telling meaningful stories,” said Neeru Sharma.

Before making Bandra Boy, Sharma pursued formal training in filmmaking at Whistling Woods International, founded by filmmaker Subhash Ghai. Her transition from journalism to cinema has attracted attention within industry circles, with many viewing the film as a reflection of her years of experience reporting on celebrity culture and media narratives.

The film stars Ahwaan Kumar in the lead role, alongside acclaimed Gujarati and Marathi actor Dharmendra Gohil. The ensemble cast also includes Lochan Barsagade, Yash Pednekar, Sham Thombare, Pawan Tiwari, Aishwarya Manohar, Himanshi Mandalia and Nandini Sharma.

Produced by Rajeev Parashar, Bandra Boy features editing by Sandeep Kurup, known for films such as Mubarakan, Sadak 2 and Crakk. Cinematography has been handled by Aayush Shah, while the background score is composed by Kaushal Mahavir.

एकीकडे मुंबईत मुसळधार पाऊस पडत असताना सांताक्रूझ मधील प्रसिद्ध अश्या सांताक्रूझ च्या स्वामीचा पाट पूजन उत्सव अतिशय थाटामाटात पार पडला. 

संकष्टी च्या मुहूर्तवर होत असलेल्या या कार्यक्रमाचे सर्वात महत्वाचे वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे स्वामी विवेकानंद सार्वजनिक गणेशोत्सव मंडळाचे हे 50 वे सुवर्ण महोत्सवी वर्ष आहे. 

1977 साली सांताक्रूझ पूर्वेतील वाकोला भागात 32 चाळी आणि कमीट्या एकत्र येऊन सुरु केलेला हा गणेशोत्सव आज ही तितक्याच परंपरिक उत्साहात साजरा केला जातो विशेष म्हणजे आज ही या संपूर्ण भागात एकच गणपती मंडळ असून दिवसेंदिवस सांताक्रूझ च्या स्वामींची प्रसिद्धी वाढतच जात आहे.

50 व्या सुवर्ण महोत्सवी वर्षानिमित्त येथील कार्यकर्त्यांनी छत्रपती शिवरायांचे 50 किल्ले सर करून तेथील पवित्र माती आणली असून या वर्षी मूर्तीच्या मातीत ही पवित्र माती सुद्धा मिश्रित केली जाणार आहे. 

आज पार पडलेल्या पाट पुजानाचे वैशिष्ट्य म्हणजे साई श्रद्धा नाशिक ढोल ताशा पथक, सांताक्रूझ आर्टिस्ट बेंजो आणि गिरगांवचा लाडका वादक मिलिंद. 

या सुवर्ण महोत्सवी वर्षात वाजवत असताना वादक मिलिंद त्यांना मिळालेल्या सन्मानाने भावुक झाले. 

शेवटी सर्व गणेश भक्ताने आणि कार्यकर्त्यांनी नाचत गाजत हा सुवर्ण पाट पूजन सोहळा पार पाडला.

Dubai / Mumbai, 03 July, 2026 — Indian entertainment promoter Deepak Choudhary, Founder & MD of *EVA Live (India & Middle East) & EVENTFAQS Media* has found himself at the centre of a legal storm in Dubai, after court judgments reportedly barred him from leaving the UAE and froze his assets in connection with debts of approximately AED 2,993,058, ( ₹7.70 crore).

According to court documents, one judgment issued by the Dubai courts on *11 June 2026 imposed a travel ban against Choudhary.* A separate decision from the Dubai execution court reportedly ordered the freezing of his bank accounts, cards, properties, receivables and other assets for the purpose of enforcing payment of the outstanding debt.

Choudhary was reportedly preparing to board a flight from Dubai to Mumbai from Dubai airport on 11 June 2026. The travel restriction was issued shortly before his departure, preventing him from leaving the UAE at the last moment.

The claims reportedly involve allegations that substantial sums remain unpaid to parties who funded, supported or assisted with events promoted by Choudhary and his associated companies. Some complainants allege that funds were misapplied or were not used in accordance with the agreed commercial arrangements.

Deepak Choudhary, long regarded as a familiar figure in the Indian entertainment and live-events industry, built his reputation over many years through personal relationships with artists, celebrity managers, sponsors, venues and regional event partners.

In live entertainment, he has been associated with *EVA Live (India & Middle East), EVENTFAQS Media,* and the organisation of large-scale concerts and festivals, including events and platforms backed by major commercial sponsors such as *Mastercard* , described by industry sources as one of the prominent sponsors connected to his event portfolio.

According to persons familiar with the disputes, Choudhary has become the subject of several civil and execution-related proceedings in the UAE, including claims connected to companies through which he allegedly organised entertainment events and promotional activities.

Several artists and commercial partners are now expected to review their association with Choudhary and his related companies. Some may distance themselves entirely until the legal position becomes clearer.
