These small-screen mothers have made a lasting impression on viewers' minds. &TV artists, on this Mother's Day talk about playing different shades of doting mothers onscreen. These include Neha Joshi (Yashoda, Doosri Maa), Kamna Pathak (Rajesh, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Soma Rathod (Amma Ji, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai). Neha Joshi, aka Yashoda from Doosri Maa, shares, “Doosri Maa is a show that celebrates the incomparable feeling of motherhood. Yashoda, the main character, demonstrates unwavering support for her children through life's challenges. 

Her love for her children transcends blood relations, and she fights against all odds to protect Krishna, her son. Yashoda embodies fierce, nurturing motherhood and will go to great lengths to ensure the safety and wellbeing of her three children: Krishna (Aayudh Bhanushali), Astha (Aadvika Sharma), and Noopur (Anya Galwan). Yashoda treats all her children equally and impartially, instilling good values and fostering a united family. She is an independent, strong-willed woman whose children are her world, making her an exemplary mother.”

 

Kamna Pathak, aka Rajesh Singh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “In my show, I play the role of a mother to nine children, each with their distinct personalities. Whether it's Hritik (Aryan Prajapati), Chamchi (Zaara Warsi), Kate Singh (Gazal Sood), Ranbir (Somya Azad), or Malaika (Sonal Panwar), my love for them is equal, even if I sometimes have to resort to "Pyaar and maar" (laughs). My character Rajesh knows how to keep all her children happy and will do anything to fulfill their wishes. She is the family's pillar, providing strength and support to her children. Rajesh is like the family's police officer, ensuring that everything is under control. Without her, the house would be in chaos. She never tires of performing her motherly duties, making her the perfect supermom. Although she can be strict, setting rules for her family to follow, her primary goal is to keep her children happy.” Soma Rathod, aka Amma Ji from Bhabhiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “Amma Ji is a joyful, free-spirited, and vibrant individual who commands respect from everyone, including her son Manmohan Tiwari (Rohitashv Gour). She provides unwavering support to her daughter-in-law, Angoori (Shubhangi Atre), always offering sound advice and standing by her side when needed. Her affectionate and supportive nature towards Angoori makes her an exceptional mother and mother-in-law. Interestingly, Amma Ji is probably the only Saasu Maa on Indian television who loves her daughter-in-law more than her son (laughs). Despite her traditional appearance, Amma Ji is a forward-thinking problem-solver, making her an exceptional mother and mother-in-law.”

Woman spiritual leader Sadhvi Ji, left her cushy life to help people find their paths to inner fulfilment when she found her own. It was truly a heart-warming and soul- nourishing experience for the collective that was gathered this day to learn tools to unleash creativity and inner strength using eastern ways of the heart.

 

New York’s incredible talent came together to support Neha. Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan, The Indian consulate in New York, several dignitaries like Tirlok Malik the filmmaker, Prashant Goyal, founder of heritage India fashions, Shiv Khemka of tGELF, queens world film festival, chip away productions, apple productions and a devoted team including media professionals like Kai MKenna, art director Nabha, influencer Christine Mendes, screenwriter Henry Negrete, producer Boby Lohat, chef Dhara shah, animator Coumba Seye, musician Indro and photographer Rob Klein. TV Asia, ITV, Parikh media, QPTV and so many press and media organizations too joined in full capacity.

 

“Show me one spiritual scripture ever written by a woman,” said Neha when she was asked why she is determined to promote women in spiritual leadership and Eastern culture through her films and work. “When were we as women ever allowed to have a voice, a say, and be given the chance to share the wisdom that is trusted only in us as women, as creators? Pain, suffering, each rejection, and denial are a portal, for me, these are truths of life, stories of resilience of the human spirit and I wish to create through them. My work is connecting with people’s hearts as I am able to relate to their hurt, pain, and suffering at that very base level of my own. It is time we recognize that everything is created by Shakti, by her power in this world and we need to give her the share of the stage, validation, and recognition that she deserves. This is my dharma path to say the stories of this Shakti in very many forms and showcase her through all my works.”- Neha Lohia.

 

Sadhvi Ji and Neha are women from opposite parts of the world, different Janmabhoomi (birth land), and are now serving on different karma Bhoomi (work land) merging all boundaries and sharing the gifts of India and eastern spirituality as women leaders in their own ways and work. The raw yet powerful vocals of Jasmeen Akhtar, Rakesh Raxx's soulful music to Harinder Kour's lyrics, and the choreography by Mehul Gadani make this song soul-touching.

Sonam Bajwa said, "Sakhiye Saheliye is such a beautiful song telling a tale of friendship. Jasmeen Akhtar’s raw vocals give you goosebumps. It was amazing shooting with a female-centric cast."

Jasmeen Akhtar, the singer behind the song said, "Sakhiye Saheliye is a fun track. The film follows the mission of Sonam Bajwa around the time when women were not allowed to attend the Baraat ceremony during weddings due to societal restrictions. Despite facing suppression, the women in the movie yearn to be part of the ceremony and plan to start their own baraat, defying the norms that restrict them.

Starring Sonam Bajwa, Tania, Gitaj Bindrakhia, and Gurjazz, 'Godday Godday Chaa' is a complete family entertainer penned by Jagdeep Sidhu, directed by Vijay Kumar Arora and is slated to release on May 26th.

Mumbai's FICCI FRAMES, a significant platform for the entertainment and media industry, hosted a panel discussion on May 5th, where Chinese film producer and distributor Pablo Reno was invited as a guest. Reno shared his insights on the Indo-China relation on movies, where he highlighted the increasing demand for Indian cinema in China. 

The panel discussion explored the cross-cultural exchange between the two countries in the context of cinema, and Reno also talked about Indian cinema's global expansion. Ren's presence at the event was highly appreciated by the attendees, who found his perspectives informative and thought-provoking. The discussion proved to be a valuable opportunity for the participants to learn and share their views on the current trends and future of the industry.

Pablo Ren also shared how Indian movies like Dangal, PK, Secret Superstar and Andhadhun have a massive hit on China’s box office. Bollywood 3 Khans have a massive fan following over there as well. Also shared that the Ajya Devegan and Anil Kapoor starer Total Dhamaal 3 movie is in the pipeline to be released in China in the coming months. Also he hoped to collaborate with Indian production companies and studios to make new movies.
