International Experts Unveil Benchmark BMAC Consensus Guidelines at REGEN 2026
MUMBAI: In a significant milestone for regenerative medicine, the first internationally developed consensus guidelines for the clinical use of Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC) were officially unveiled on Saturday at REGEN 2026. The two-day international conference, hosted at Aurika by Lemon Tree in Mumbai, brought together renowned medical experts from India, Europe, South America, and the United States to establish a standardized, evidence-based framework for orthopaedic practice.
The landmark gathering, organized by the Suryodaya Foundation alongside key regional orthopaedic associations, featured critical scientific sessions on orthobiologics including PRP, BMAC, and MFAT. A major highlight was the presentation of a novel biological classification system for knee osteoarthritis by Dr. Sharmila Tulpule, Chairperson of REGEN 2026. This new system moves beyond traditional radiographic grading by placing greater focus on biological parameters.
Addressing the assembly, Dr. Tulpule emphasized the transition toward clinical consistency. "REGEN 2026 is about moving regenerative orthopaedics from promise to evidence-based practice. The development of these BMAC Consensus Guidelines through collaboration among experts from India, Europe, South America and the USA marks an important step towards greater clinical consistency and informed decision-making," she stated.
Distinguished international faculties including Prof. Nicola Maffulli, Dr. Fabio Sciarretta, Dr. Nathan Katz, Dr. Don Buford, and Dr. Massimo Piracci engaged with leading Indian practitioners during the event, which also hosted the American Board of Regenerative Medicine diplomate convocation. Building upon its inaugural 2025 edition, REGEN 2026 continues to bridge global scientific evidence with local clinical expertise to shape the future of biological orthopaedics.
