With due regard to the growing concerns around the spread of the COVID-19 virus and keeping the health and safety of IIFA’s fans and the general community at large, after consulting the Madhya Pradesh government, the IIFA management, and stakeholders from the film industry it has been decided to postpone to a later date, the much-awaited IIFA Weekend and Awards 2020 celebrations. IIFA is fully committed to hosting IIFA2020 in Madhya Pradesh at a later date and fresh plans will be announced at the earliest. In these challenging times, IIFA would like to ensure the safety of the citizens and legions of IIFA fans who travel from across the globe to attend and experience the magic of IIFA. We sincerely regret the inconvenience caused, and hope that all concerned understand the sensitivity of the situation.

Navi Mumbai 28^th Feb 2020 : Saffrons-Eventz & Saffrons Entertainment’s Grand Finale of    “Saffrons India’s Queen, Princess & Elite”2020 was held on 28^th   February 2020 at Vishnudas Bhave Auditorium, Vashi, Navi Mumbai.

‘मीडियम स्पाइसी’ चित्रपटाव्दारे अरुंधती नाग 40 वर्षांनंतर परतणार मराठी सिनेसृष्टीत !!

सिने आणि नाट्यविश्वातील ज्येष्ठ अभिनेत्री अरूंधती नाग लॅन्डमार्क फिल्म्स प्रस्तूत ‘मीडियम स्पाइसी’ ह्या सिनेमाव्दारे मराठी चित्रपटसृष्टीत परतणार आहेत. पद्मश्री अरूंधती नाग ह्यांनी सुमारे 40 वर्षांपूर्वी ‘22 जून 1897’ ह्या मराठी चित्रपटाव्दारे सिनेसृष्टीत पदार्पण केले होते. त्यानंतर आता विधि कासलीवाल निर्मित, मोहित टाकळकर दिग्दर्शित आणि इरावती कर्णिक लिखीत, ‘मीडियम स्पाइसी’ सिनेमातून त्या मराठीत परत दिसणार आहेत. आणि ही निश्चितच त्यांच्या चाहत्यांसाठी आनंदाची पर्वणी आहे.

अरूंधती नाग ह्यांच्या भूमिकेविषयी सांगताना दिग्दर्शक मोहित टाकळकर म्हणाले, “चित्रपटाचे कथानक आकारत असताना, ‘लक्ष्मी टिपणीस’ह्या भूमिकेसाठी माझ्या डोळ्यांसमोर फक्त अरूंधती नाग ह्यांचीच प्रतिमा उभी राहिली. लक्ष्मी टिपणीस अतिशय प्रगल्भ आणि पुरोगामी स्त्री आहे. पण त्यासोबतच ती जेवढी बुध्दिमान आहे, तेवढीच तिच्यात मायेची उब आहे. सिनेमात जेव्हा लक्ष्मीची एन्ट्री होते, तेव्हा तिला पाहताच तिच्या चैतन्यमयी व्यक्तिमत्वाची जाणीव व्हावी, असं मला वाटलं. म्हणूनच अरूंधती ह्यांना ही भूमिका ऑफर केली.” 

मोहित पूढे म्हणाले, “मी अरूंधती नाग ह्यांना गेली 15-20 वर्ष ओळखतो. त्या जेवढ्या बहुआयामी आणि प्रतिभावान कलाकार आहेत, तेवढ्याच नम्रही आहेत. आपल्या भूमिकेच्या लांबीपेक्षा कलाकृतीत समरसून व्यक्तिरेखेशी एकनिष्ठ राहण्याकडे त्यांचा कल असतो. त्या जरी मराठीत 40 वर्षांनी परतत असल्या तरीही, त्यांचे मराठीवर प्रभूत्व आहे आणि मुख्य म्हणजे सिनेमाच्या भाषेवर त्यांचे प्रेम आहे.”

मराठीतल्या आपल्या पुनरागमनाबाबत राष्ट्रीय पुरस्कार विजेत्या अभिनेत्री अरूंधती नागही खूप उत्सुक आहेत. त्या मराठी सिनेसृष्टीत परण्याविषयी म्हणाल्या, “40 वर्षांनंतर मराठी सिनेसृष्टीत परतणं, ही निश्चितच आल्हाददायक गोष्ट आहे. परतताना एखाद्या नवोदितासारखी अनुभूती होतेय. बंगलोरला आमच्या रंगशंकरा नाट्यमंदिरात मोहित त्याच्या नाटकांचे प्रयोग करायला येत असतो. अशाच एका प्रयोगावेळी मोहित मला त्याच्यासोबत बसायची विनंती करत म्हणाला, अरू अक्का, मी लवकरच एक चित्रपट दिग्दर्शित करतोय. त्यामध्ये तू एक भूमिका करावीस, अशी माझी इच्छा आहे.”

अरूंधती नाग ह्यांना मोहितच्या कलाकृती आवडतात. त्यामूळे त्यांनाही मोहितच्या ह्या सिनेमाचा भाग होणं आवडलं. मोहितसोबतच ललित प्रभाकरचीही त्यांनी प्रशंसा केली. त्या म्हणाल्या, “ चित्रपटाचे कथानक आणि व्यक्तिरेखेविषयीची माहिती मला पाठवण्यात आली होती. पण सेटवर पोहोचल्यावर ती भूमिका जिवंत करताना खरी गंमत आली. ललित प्रभाकरसोबत संहितेचे वाचन केले. ललित त्याच्या भूमिकेत चांगलाच उतरला होता. एका प्रतिभावान दिग्दर्शकासोबत काम करायला आणि एक अद्भूत सशक्त महिलेला साकारायला मिळाल्यावर अभिनेत्री म्हणून काही विशेष अवघड करावं लागलं नाही.”

अरूंधती नाग ह्यांच्या दर्जेदार अभिनयाची प्रशंसा करताना मोहित टाकळकर म्हणतात, “ त्या जरी ज्येष्ठ अभिनेत्री असल्या तरीही आपल्या प्रगाढ अनुभवाचे ओझे घेऊन त्या सेटवर येत नाहीत. त्या दिग्दर्शकाच्या दृष्टिकोणाचा आदर करतात आणि मग त्याप्रमाणे आपल्या व्यक्तिरेखेवर काम करतात.”

अरूंधती नाग ह्यांच्यासोबतचा अनुभव सांगताना निर्मात्या विधि कासलीवाल म्हणाल्या, “अरूंधती नाग ह्यांच्यासारख्या ज्येष्ठ अभिनेत्रीसोबत काम करण्याची संधी मिळणे, हा आमचा गौरवच आहे. त्यांच्या व्यक्तिमत्वात असलेली विनम्रता आणि आपुलकी ह्यामूळे त्या आसपासच्या प्रत्येक व्यक्तिला पटकन आपलंस करून घेतात. त्यामूळेच तर त्या एवढ्या ज्येष्ठ अभिनेत्री असूनही त्यांच्याशी पटकन ऋणानुबंध जुळून आला. अरूंधतीजी एवढ्या नैसर्गिक अभिनत्री आहेत, की त्या प्रत्येक शॉटमध्ये परफॉर्म करताना तुम्ही त्यांच्या अभिनयाने मोहित होऊन जाता.”

Medium Spicy brings veteran actor Arundhati Nag back to Marathi cinema after 40 years 

In a coup of sorts, Marathi film ‘Medium Spicy’ has managed to get Arundhati Nag, an accomplished actress and a theatre legend to do a Special Appearance in it. Interestingly, Padmashree Arundhati Nag made her debut about 40 years ago with a Marathi movie called ’22 June 1987’. 

Revealing about the role essayed by Arundhati, talented filmmaker Mohit Takalkar mentioned, “While penning down the script and character graph of ‘Laxmi Tipnis’, a well informed and cumulative lady; I felt in her introduction scene itself my patrons should get the unerring vibes from the character. There is affability in her character with a stark persona. So for such a dynamic role I only could have thought about Arundhati who could pull this off .”

Mohit added, “I knew Arundhati from the last 15-20 years. A multifaceted performer, altruistic and gifted personality she is, therefore I approached her whole heartedly for the role and she willingly came on board. Though she’s had a long break from Marathi cinema, Arundhati maintains a fluency in Marathi. In her early career Arundhati has done professional theatre in Marathi and films therefore it was a cake walk for her.”

National Award winning actor Arundhati Nag too is ecstatic about her comeback in Marathi cinema and while she spoke about the compatibility she shares with Mohit, she was also full of praise for her co-actor, Lalit Prabhakar.

“Coming back to Marathi Cinema after 40 years surely feels good. It seems like a complete circle in life almost like starting afresh as a debutant. In the past, Mohit has organised shows of his plays at Ranga Shankara (the theatre space in Bengaluru that runs my life at present) and while he was seated in the auditorium, he humbly invited me to sit next to him and gingerly asked “Aru Akka, I am planning to direct a film soon. There’s one role I would like you to do. Would you be a part of it?", reminisces Arundhati.

Arundhati has liked Mohit and his body of work in theatre and was keen to be a part of Mohit’s directorial debut in Marathi films in any capacity.

“The script and a character description was sent to me, but the magic happened when I reached the set and read the lines with my co-actor. Whoa! Lalit Prabhakar suits the role to the T and transforms into his character effortlessly. With such a talented director and an awesome woman to portray, I didn’t have to do much,” concludes Nag. 

Mohit continues to praise Arundhati, “Though she is so senior, she has no pretensions about being a prolific actor on the sets. Arundhati is a director’s delight who can tweak herself as per the filmmaker’s vision.”

While sharing her experience working with the wonderful Arundhati Nag, producer Vidhi Kasliwal says, “It’s been such a privilege and an honour to work with an artist and a person like Arundhati ji. She’s ever so warm and genuine. She makes everyone around so comfortable and at ease that it really doesn’t feel like we are in the presence of such a senior and accomplished actor and we are working. The naturalness with which she performs is so captivating that you can’t take your eyes off her shot after shot, take after take.”

Landmarc Films’ Medium Spicy, slated to release on 5^th June, 2020, builds a potpourri of relationships, love and marriage in our urban lives. Produced by Vidhi Kasliwal, directed by Mohit Takalkar and written by Irawati Karnik, the film boasts of a young ensemble including Sai Tamhankar, Lalit Prabhakar, Parna Pethe, Sagar Deshmukh, Neha Joshi, Pushkaraj Chirputkar and Ipshitaa complemented by veteran actors Neena Kulkarni and Ravindra Mankani, all playing key characters. 

HIGHER.FURTHER.FASTER with Captain Marvel on Star Movies

Mumbai, March 5th, 2020: Marvel Studios’ Captain Marvel, the highest grossing female-led superhero film featuring Academy award-winning actress Brie Larson premieres this Sunday 8^th March on Star Movies 1 PM and 9 PM. Captain Marvel is an all-new adventure from a previously unseen period in the history of the MCU that trails the journey of Carol Danvers as she becomes one of the universe`s most powerful heroes.

The film boasts an ensemble cast of Samuel L. Jackson, Jude Law, Ben Mendelsohn, Djimon Hounsou, Gemma chan, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Annette Bening, and Clark Gregg. The film is a unique superhero film mainly due to its setting, characters and action. Major character developments will be seen in the film including Nick fury losing his eye in an unfortunate accident. This film will show you why Thanos needs to be terrified as he will be facing the ferocious and marvelous Captain Marvel in the next Film installment of the MCU - Avengers: Endgame.

Set in the 90’s, the film follows the story of Carol Danvers, Half human half kree warrior hero who is trying to end the expansion of Skrull rule on the galaxy along with Yon Rogg, her mentor and commander. Though she has extremely potent abilities, she is yet to master them. During a mission, she gets separated from her team and gets stranded on Earth, there she meets a young Nick Fury and teams up with him to prevent a catastrophe.

When Brie Larson was asked what are her thoughts on the character, she stated “I mean, I think she has an ego, but in a healthy way. She doesn’t have an unrealistic expectation of herself. She just owns that she’s really good and really skilled, which feels good to play. She also has an incredible sense of humor and makes fun of herself, makes fun of other people, has no issue if someone makes fun of her.”

BISLERI USES 10,00,000 USED BOTTLES TO MAKE UNIFORMS FOR STAFF

 ~ 5000 employees of Bisleri across India will be wearing recycled PET uniforms ~

5th March, 2020, Mumbai: Bisleri that aims to educate citizens about the importance of recycling and up cycling plastic have made uniforms for their sales team from used pet bottles. A great initiative to create sustainable fabrics, these Shirts are crafted from threads derived entirely from recycled bottles. Across India, 5,000 employees are presently wearing these uniforms, upholding the vision of sustainability.

Plastic bottles are still thought to be a threat to the environment but in reality they are not. With the help of advanced technology, bottles can be transformed into clothing. The idea behind the initiative was to practice what Bisleri preaches that PET bottles post use are not waste. They are valuable, in fact where old newspaper fetches Rs 6 to Rs 8 per kg where single use PET bottles fetches a value of Rs 15/- per kg post use. It’s a misconception that bottles lies in the dump yard to become landfill. Water bottles are like gold among all packaging materials. Currently in India 90% of all PET is recycled for making yarn, t shirts, shirts etc. Bisleri through their bottles for change initiative collected millions of bottles and around ten lakhs bottles were used to make uniform for all staff of Bisleri.

The process of making recycled Shirts:

With the development in the recycling & up cycling technology, the collected bottles were directly sent to the recycler. The plastic bottles were crushed and converted into flakes. The flakes were converted to fibre in the conversion machine. Pet fibres are dyed in the required shades and mixed with cotton for shirting & with viscose for trousers. It took 40 bottles to make a shirt and around 45 bottles to make a trouser. After mixing, the fibre is converted into yarn on the ring frame spinning machine. Once the yarn is ready, it is converted into fabric through weaving process on rapier & air jet looms.  Once weaving is completed, the fabric is then sent for washing and final processing. It is moved to the tailoring unit for stitching the final uniform.

On the announcement of upcycled clothing, Ms. Anjana Ghosh, Director Marketing and OSR, Bisleri International says, “People hate plastic because they are not aware about the feats of recycling. It’s a huge misconception that water bottles add to the environmental pollution. In fact in India we have a robust recycling industry, which produces high value fabric, shoes and other products from PET bottles. We thought we should practice what we preach that “plastics are not waste.” Hence our entire staff across India are proudly to burst the myths around plastics. 5000 employees will flaunt their uniforms proudly made from our own plastic bottles."
