This April Fool Day, TV actors reveal their hilarious pranks!

On April Fool’s Day, which is celebrated annually on 1st April, is widely popular for playing pranks. It disrupts your routine schedule in a fun way. &TV artists including Aayudh Bhanushali (Krishna, Doosri Maa), Gazal Sood (Kate Singh, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Rohitashv Gour (Manmohan Tiwari, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai) recollect some hilarious memories of pranking their co-stars. Aayudh Bhanushali, essaying Krishna, shares, “On the sets, people refer to me as a prankster. I leave no opportunity to prank on my co-stars and make others laugh. My mother occasionally gets upset with my naughtiness, but April Fool's Day (laughs) should be an exception. I am closest to Neha Didi (Neha Joshi), who plays my mother in the show. My pranks irritate her. Recently, we were shooting for an intense scene and the moment they called us for the scene, I splattered ink on her saree. I will never forget her expression at the time. She got so panicked that she called our Assistant Director and requested a change, as she was wearing a light-coloured saree. But the ink vanished soon. I was rolling on the floor with laughter. It was a gel ink that disappeared completely. I am planning a prank with her for April Fool's Day this year, but I won't reveal it here because it won't have the desired effect (laughs).”

Gazal Sood essaying Kate Singh, says, “On our set, Yogesh Ji (Daroga Happu Singh) is a prankster. He always makes us laugh with his funny pranks. But one day, I decided to play a prank on him, and it went well (laughs). While shooting a scene, I said, ‘Aapki mucche thodi tedhi lag rahi hai’. He quickly called his makeup artist and asked him to fix it. After a while, I told him again, ‘Aapki mooche abhi bhi thodi tedhi lag rahi hai’. He asked for a mirror and requested the makeup artist to fix it again. He became so conscious after a while that he began asking me if the moustaches are fine. He also went to our director and ask if the moustaches looked fine in cameras to which he replied, ‘theek lag rahi hai, par aap phirse fix karna chaho to kar sakte ho’. He kept checking his moustaches over and over. It was hilarious. During pack-up, I finally admitted to him that nothing was wrong and that I was just playing a joke on him.

He got irritated, but soon burst into laughter.” Rohitashv Gour essaying Manmohan Tiwari, shares, “For me, April Fool's Day is a celebration. I never let go an opportunity to play a joke on my loved ones. For one of our tracks, I had to take on the role of Angoori, played by Shubhangi Atre. I was made to resemble her by donning her saree, makeup, and, most importantly, her hairstyle. So, everyone was making fun of my outfit that day. I decided to make fun of them. Whenever they called Shubhangi for her take, I used to go and stand in the frame. They initially thought I was mistaken, but I made a point of repeating it until they were irritated. This was something Shubhnagi Ji and I worked on together. In addition, when they called my character Tiwari Ji for takes, I didn't get up or react. I only went to the frame when they said, ‘Angoori frame mein aao’. I confused my director and his assistants, as well as our other co-stars, to the point where they asked me to stop. Till date everyone remembers this joke and the fun we had (laughs).”

Neha Joshi's surprise birthday celebration

Neha Joshi, who plays Yashoda in &TV's family drama Doosri Maa, celebrates her birthday today. The actress believes it's a day to count your blessings and prefers a working birthday. Her on-screen family, however, surprised her with a birthday celebration in Jaipur to make her day memorable.

Talking about the celebration Neha Joshi aka Yashoda shared, “I prefer low-key birthday. The best way to celebrate this special day for me is to shoot as that’s something I love the most. Also, in the evening, I like to spend time with my family and close friends at home or at my favourite restaurant. But it was extra special this year as my extended family of Doosri Maa decided to make it memorable. Since I am shooting for the show in Jaipur, I am away from home, and due to my shoot schedule, I could not fly down to Mumbai. The team brought a beautiful cake for me, and after the cake cutting, we gorged on some delicious delicacies. The city has a lot to offer in food, and I will not be wrong to say that we tried almost all of them (laughs). I feel blessed to have such wonderful unit and co-stars around who never make us feel away from home.” She adds, “I feel birthdays are also the days to count blessings. The hundreds of calls and messages I received from my family, friends, colleagues and most importantly my audiences via social media just made my day even more special. I cannot thank my fans enough for their unwavering support. Reading all the birthday wishes, messages, posts, and comments on social media truly means a lot to me. Such love and affection inspire and motivate me to do my best.”

It's triple celebration for Anita Bhabi aka Vidisha Srivastava!

&TV’s cult-comedy show Bhabiji Ghar Pai Hai recently completed eight years and 2000 episodes. We caught up with Vidisha Srivastava aka ‘Gori Mem’ Anita Bhabi on her incredible journey in the show as she also completes one year of playing Anita Bhabi in the show. Excerpts from the interview:

  1. It is a triple celebration for you. How does it feel to complete a year as Anita while your show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai has turned eight years and completed 2000 episodes?

I feel fortunate to be a part of such an immensely popular show. Last year, when I was approached to play Anita, I was a bit skeptical. Before me, two actresses played this character beautifully. After a year of being associated with the show, I feel blessed for being accepted and appreciated for portraying Anita Bhabi. Very few shows continue to enjoy a loyal fan base and the completion of eight years, and 2000 episodes testifies the popularity of our show. I would like to thank the channel, our producers, my co-stars, and most importantly, our viewers, for believing in me and supporting me throughout.

  1. How does it feel when fans address you as Gori Mem or Anita Bhabi?

People in social media and friend circle have started addressing me by my character's name. A recent incident made me emotional. I was in my hometown, Varanasi, during Maha Shivratri. In the lanes where I have spent my childhood, people kept asking me ‘Anita Bhabi kaisi hain aap’? I feel it is the biggest compliment for any actor when you get recognised for the role you play onscreen.

  1. What are the similarities between Vidisha and Anita Bhabi?

Anita is a strong and independent woman who believes in standing up for what is right and pointing out the wrong. She is beautiful, classy, and intelligent. I can completely relate to her. My style statement is like hers: simple, elegant, and graceful. Like Anita, I also love wearing sarees, heels, and accessories.

  1. The comedy genre was new to you. How easy or difficult it has been to adapt to it?

As an actor, it is important to attempt challenging roles. It enables one to learn, grow, and evolve. Hence, I wanted to explore all genres, and choosing Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai is one of my life’s most rewarding decisions. Yes, comedy is challenging but the appreciation for my role encourages me to keep giving my best.

  1. Do you have plans to sign Bollywood movies?

Honestly, I have been offered Hindi movies even before I did films in the South. However, I did not accept the roles as it did not excite me. As an actor, I look forward to meaty and challenging roles. I love to portray characters that add value to the overall concept of the show. Anita Bhabi is an excellent opportunity for me to showcase my acting prowess and I am looking forward to achieving more milestones being a part of Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai.

TV actors beat the heat with their favourite summer diets!

It's March, and most of India is experiencing the hot summers. The sweltering heat necessitates immediate changes in food and beverage consumption to keep your body cool and healthy. &TV artists RJ Mohit (Manoj, Doosri Maa), Kamna Pathak (Rajesh, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Shubhangi Atre (Angoori, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai) reveal their summer diets. RJ Mohit aka Manoj from &TV’s Doosri Maa shares, “Summer coolers like Aam Panna have become a part of my daily diet. It's time to indulge in citrus fruits packed with vitamin C and antioxidants. It is a delicious thirst quencher too in this scorching weather. It helps to hydrate the body as it is a coolant variant and is also good for digestion as it boosts the metabolic system. Luckily, it is an instant mood uplifter. I advise everyone to soak the fruit in water for a few hours to remove the heat, squeeze the juice, and store it in the refrigerator before consumption. It works amazingly well to maintain the healthiest possible throughout the summer.”

Kamna Pathak aka Rajesh from &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan shares, I enjoy sugarcane juice the most during summers. It tastes best when blended with lemon and mint. It is an instant energizer and has an abundance of nutritional benefits. It boosts body fluids and plasma, helping you fight fatigue and dehydration. It is also one of the healthiest detox beverages available. Additionally, I always have tomatoes and cucumbers at lunch because they are high in nutrition. Fruits and vegetables that are high in water, keep you hydrated and fresh and help beat the heat in a healthy way.” Shubhangi Atre aka Angoori Bhabi from &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai shares, “Summer is the right time to consume curd. It is an excellent source of probiotics.

Chaas is brilliant for digestion and adding spices like jeera enhances its benefits. Additionally, I prefer to substitute fresh ginger for chaat masala or dry ginger powder and black pepper instead of green chilli. Incorporating mint or coriander leaves into the buttermilk will give it a refreshing taste. Make this hot sunny day a refreshing one with this masala buttermilk recipe. Additionally, my morning ritual during summers is to add sabja seeds to my first litre of water. It has a cooling effect on the body.”
