Over the last 26 years, Praja Foundation has been working towards enabling accountable governance. We conduct data-driven research nationwide, focusing on urban governance, and civic issues in cities of Mumbai & Delhi and engage with citizens & youth through various programmes and initiatives. We collaborate with government administration and elected representatives (ERs) for their capacity building, to equip them with our data and advocate for urban governance reforms to make citizens' lives better.

As India undergoes rapid urbanisation, more and more people are going to live in urban settlements. To enable economic development as well as provide good urban life, it is essential to reform the current governance structures of cities. Praja's Transforming Urban Governance recommendations outline key reforms needed to empower city governments and unlock their potential. These reforms address three crucial questions:

1. Who is in charge of governing cities?

2. What resources do they have for governance?

3. How citizens can be engaged in governance?

Additional Recommendations:

• City governments should adopt Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and Climate Action Plans for a structured approach to guide their development efforts.
• Gender-responsive policies are crucial for addressing the specific needs and challenges faced by different genders in society.

It is believed to be a triumph of truth. Producer Abhishek Maloo assures that this film will show the extraordinary and untold story of Jain tradition. The film's team urges people to come to cinemas to witness this historic moment.

During a recent interview, Abhishek Maloo mentioned being troubled by some antisocial elements spreading rumours about the film, but he firmly clarified that there is no inappropriate content in the film. He emphasised that there was no ban or restriction on their film. This wait for the film's review by the censor board was anticipated.

Through this film, audiences will be introduced to the significant elements of Jainism. The film presents important events such as the journey from King Rishabh Dev to Lord Mahavir, and the establishment of Khatargachh, in the form of an intriguing story.

The team of the film has advised the people who were opposing it to watch the film once and then present their opinion. They also said that through their film, they aim to present the greatness of Jainism to people and hope that it will increase people's faith and knowledge in this religion.

The film's project director is Vivek Sudhindra Kulshrestha, directed by Pradeep P. Jadhav and Vivek Iyer. The writer and lyricist of the film is Prashant Beybaar, and the music is by Vivian Richard and Vipin Patwa. Renowned singers such as Padma Shri Kailash Kher, Javed Ali, and Divya Kumar have lent their voices to the soulful music, which will not only engage and entertain the audience but also inspire them.

·        Ministry of Skill Development & Entrepreneurship, GJEPC sign MOU for PM Vishwakarma Scheme

·        GJEPC will impart skill training to registered ‘Vishwakarmas’ under PM Vishwakarma Yojana

 

National, 21^st March 2024: A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) and the apex trade body, Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) appointing GJEPC as implementing agency for Prime Minister PM Vishwakarma Scheme. The MoU was signed in the august presence of Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon. Union Minister of Education, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India; and Shri Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC, was present on this momentous occasion.

 

Shri Sabyasachi Ray, ED, GJEPC, said, “Under the Kushal Bharat Viksit Bharat motto, this MoU will promote initiatives to bring speed and scale to India's skill ecosystem. The primary objective of the scheme is to enable the recognition of artisans and craftspeople as ‘Vishwakarmas’ making them eligible to avail the benefits under the scheme. GJEPC will impart skill training to registered Vishwakarmas under PM Vishwakarma Yojana for the trade of Goldsmiths across the country. GJEPC will facilitate Training and Skilling Centres in many regions is poised to equip locals in the region with industry-specific skills, thereby creating employment opportunities and fostering economic growth in the region.”

 

As India is being positioned as a design driven Jewellery manufacturing hub, the intent of the Central Government is to facilitate new talent to thrive and grow, as well as preserve and promote the cultural heritage of India’s rich legacy in handcrafted and bespoke jewellery.
