Bottles for Change

Bottles for Change’conducted an event on 21st June 2019 at Trident, Mumbai, to announce the excellent work done under this initiative. The programme aims to educate citizens about the importance of recycling plastic in our lives; bringing about a habit change of not putting plastic in waste, but cleaning it, segregating it and sending it directly for recycling. The event was attended by prominent personalities, Ramesh Chauhan (Chairman – Bisleri International), Anjana Ghosh (Director Marketing and OSR- Bisleri International),Vijay Merchant(Member of Governing Council, ICPE), Aditya Dalmia (Owner- Dalmia Polypro Industries).

While the whole of India and the world is struggling to solve the problem of managing Plastic waste, there are massive projects being undertaken to clean the rivers and seas of plastic litter. Bottles for Change brings in a revolutionary perspective to the whole Plastic menace, IT SAYS STOP TREATING PLASTIC AS WASTE AS IT HAS VALUE EVEN AFTER USE. If plastic is cursed for being Non-Biodegradable, then Plastic’s biggest Virtue is that it is recyclable several times. If we have to tackle the problem of the Environment then engaging every citizen and creating awareness about the correct ways to dispose Plastic is a Must.

The Bottles for Change program has created a complete value chain. Plastic is picked up right from the doorstep of a citizen& sent to the Recycler without involving any Waste Bins or Dump yards. THE KEY MESSAGE IS TO CLEAN PLASTIC BEFORE DISPOSING AS CLEAN PLASTIC CAN DIRECTLY GO FOR RECYCLING.

The event began with a welcome speech, felicitation of guests and an introduction of the initiative by presentation of the report card of all the work done in the Past One year, a run-through of the film on “Bottles for Change”and testimonials in form of ‘Model Society’. It was followed by a panel discussion on the future plans for the initiative.

The team also launched a Bottles for Change‘Mobile App’which aims to bring the citizens of Mumbai and the Plastic Collecting Agents (Kabadiwallahs/NGOs) under one roof. The app provides a hassle-free option to the citizens to search &approach a nearby plastic agent to handover the clean plastic. The plastic agents will in turn sell the used clean plastic to the recyclers who will make products from the same. Bottles for Change has been receiving a tremendous response from the citizens and as a gesture of contributing to society, the team will be placing 25 BENCHES MADE FROM RECYCLED PLASTIC at prominent areas of Mumbai. Every bench requires around 50 kgs of used plastic to make it. The event concluded by a thank you speech from the spokesperson of Bottles for Change.

Since its inception, ‘Bottles for Change’ programme has conducted over 200 plastic recycling awareness and collection drives and workshops in corporate offices, housing societies, schools, colleges and other institutions, malls, festive & social gatherings, events, etc. With over, 4,800 Tonnes Of Plastic recycled by Bisleri, ‘Bottles For Change’ Programme has reached out and successfully Engaged 15,00,000 Citizens, 600 Housing Societies, 150 Corporates400 Hotels And Restaurants, 200 Schools: 3,00,000 Number Of Students who have actively supported and joined the initiative.

Speaking on the occasion,Ms. Anjana Ghosh, Director,Bisleri said,“The problem is not that of plastic, the problem is of the irresponsible human behavior and their absolute lack of knowledge about Plastic. The Plastic Pollution problem can be easily tackled, it only requires a determined effort by every citizen and law makers of India. We are glad to announce the progress made by the programme in one year itself. We have successfully achieved our aim to engage a large number of stakeholders in Mumbai, introduce recycled benches as a testimonial that plastic is recyclable, and also a mobile app that is sure to help in spreading the awareness about plastic recycling. Our further plan includes reaching out to additional cities of India, aiming to bring about such habit change and introducing more such platforms for the citizens contributing to a cleaner environment”.

‘Bottles For Change’ Programme is all set to work towards changing the habit of communities in valuing plastic as an effective resource as plastic is recyclable. It also aims to create awareness for a positive response from individuals with changed mindset(s) about plastic, recycling of plastic items and best practices towards a cleaner environment.

Elnaaz Norouzi’s dark secret

Elnaaz Norouzi’s dark secret

Elnaaz Norouzi, who is known for her character as Zoya Mirza, in the international television web series ‘Sacred Games’ on Netflix, produced by Anurag Kashyap and VikramadityaMotwane, was recently spotted at a surprisingly dark and dingy place. This has left her fans wondering what the Bollywood glam queen is really up to.

Well, the actress has been shooting for the hectic schedule of the most awaited sequel of webseries Sacred Games. While many would find it stressful to manage hectic shoot and travel schedules in a rising career, this young actress has discovered her own secret hideaway to maintain her cool. The actress who is a regular at the gym has now found a place away from all the noise of the city, literally. She cuts herself completely off in a 20 sq ft sound-proof and pitch-dark room that has nothing but a hot pool inside, and then? She floats! Yes! You heard that right, she floats, and that for hours. Still confused? Don’t worry! We are going to break it down some more.

In this picture, she is seen relaxing and rejuvenating by taking up floating sessions in a sensory deprivation tank. Yes, the tank used in the web series Stranger Things does exist and has much more science to it in reality, unlike what you thought. It houses a 1-hour session inside a floating chamber with water that is 12 inches deep along with 1000 pounds of Epsom salts. Rich in magnesium, this helps alleviate headaches, body aches, muscle cramps and inflammation and a single soak isolates all her environmental stimuli and bodily sensation, further making her body float effortlessly and help calm her senses. So relax, there is no Upside-Down portal for Eleven to open up in this tank.

Elnaaz has often spoken about her own phases of depression and anxiety and believes that floating truly calms your mind. “Mental health is something we need to address more, and the same way we work out our bodies we must work out our minds. And that means give it resting phases, too. I’m so glad there are floating tanks in Mumbai now! I needed a place to completely shut off to keep my sanity in this crazy hectic city and industry.” We can understand that and are glad when actors take care of their mental health, in fact, we have a list of people we’d like to send for a float, too.

“Enlightenment is not a big deal”.

“Enlightenment is not a big deal”

"Kundalini Yoga gives you the power to have whatever you want but it also gives you the wisdom to not want it anymore” says
Bijay J Anand

An accomplished actor and one of the leading Kundalini Yoga teachers in the world, certified by the Kundalini Research Institute, Los Angeles, Bijay is ecstatic about being able to balance his life between his love for yoga and his passion for acting.

The principle philosophy behind Bijay’s teaching is that though it is important to do yoga every day, to eat healthy food and have a healthy lifestyle, it is much more important to understand how our thoughts, speech, actions and intentions play a vitally important role in our life for both, our health as well as our happiness.

Bijay’s tryst with yoga started 25 years ago. Blessed with an inquisitive mind, he exposed himself to various forms of yoga including Iyengar Yoga, Ashthanga Vinyasa and Hatha. But what really changed his life was his first experience with Kundalini Yoga.

He conducts Retreats and Wellness Programs based on Kundalini Yoga in India and across cities in Europe, the U.S. , Latin America, Russia, China and the Middle East. Bijay’s impactful wellness programs have touched the lives of thousands of participants across continents. Bijay has just completed a book titled “Enlightenment is not a big deal”. This book, due to be released shortly , lays down the ground rules for living a life of awareness and mindfulness.

When asked about his views on International Yoga Day on 21st June, 2019, he said "I think that our PM Mr.Narendra Modiji has done the entire world a huge favour by highlighting the importance of yoga in our lives. I love the fact that on this one day, everyone on this planet is focussed on introspection and personal development which goes a long way in not only healing that individual but also for the well-being of our entire planet Earth.

“I will be teaching at the Holistic Live festival in Manchester followed by the Healing Festival in Prague with dozens of workshops in Sweden and Germany in between”.

He signs off with his favourite quote,
“I can only plant the seeds. It’s up to you to flower or not”.

Travellers from Mumbai and Pune are opting for short trips

Travel demand for monsoon to surge by 20%, family travellers drive the growth
-          Karan Anand, Head, Relationships, Cox & Kings

Contrary to a general perception that trekkers and adventure seekers mainly drive monsoon travel, this year family travellers are taking a lead being over 70% of the travel inquiries generated from family segment. Going by the number of inquiries, we expect the overall travel demand for the season to surge by 20% as compared to the last year.

Family travellers are mainly looking for relaxed beach vacations, staycations at nearby resorts, explore hillside for lush greenery and waterfalls and relish delicious hot cuisines.

Travellers from Mumbai and Pune are opting for short trips within Maharashtra and neighbouring states such as Goa and Gujarat.  Staycations in Lonavala, Silvassa, Lavasa, Saputara, Mahabaleshwar, Daman and Nasik are picking up. Sultry beaches and appetising seafood in Goa and Konkan are back on the radar of west India travellers with the onset of monsoon.

Monsoon travellers from Delhi and Chandigarh are mainly finding solace in hill stations such as Mussoorie and Nainital. Some of them are taking road trips to Rajasthan to explore places like Jaisalmer, jaipur, Bikaner, Jodhpur and Udaipur. However, adventure trails from Delhi to Ladakh are the key highlight of the season.

Travellers from east India are mainly preferring staycations in Darjeeling in premium properties like Mayfair and Ramada. Some are even heading to Assam and Meghalaya to experience the extreme rains, nature and eco-friendly atmosphere.

Down south, Munnar, Waynad, Thekkady, Coorg and Kabini are the most popular places to enjoy monsoon. Health tourism in Kerala is expected to reach at its peak with rise in demand for ayurvedic treatments during monsoon.

To motivate more families to take a monsoon break, Cox & Kings is currently offering a deal- ‘25% off on companion’ on the monsoon special trips.
