Tackle monsoon in style with these fashionable tricks!

Tackle monsoon in style with these fashionable tricks!

Rainy days can damper our fashion choices, but it does not mean we must sacrifice style for practicality. With clever fashion tricks, one can navigate the rain-soaked streets while looking chic and fashionable. From waterproof fabrics to creative layering techniques, here are some fashion tips from &TV artists to help you tackle rainy days in style. These include Neha Joshi (Yashoda, Doosri Maa), Sapna Sikarwar (Bimlesh, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan), and Vidisha Srivastava (Anita Bhabi, Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai). Neha Joshi, aka Yashoda from Doosri Maa, shares, “During the monsoon season, the primary focus of my clothing choices is to ensure they are lightweight and breathable fabrics such as cotton and linen. This selection allows me to stay comfortable and dry quickly in case of rain. I usually wear cotton short skirts, sarees, kurtis, classic linen or cotton trousers because of the humidity. These choices not only exude style but also provide practicality on rainy days. I also prefer comfy short dresses and incorporate various styles to suit my taste and mood. I pair these garments with accessories like scarves, dupattas, and lightweight jewellery to complete my monsoon look. These additions add a touch of elegance while ensuring functionality in case of rain. I opt for darker shades without worrying about visible stains in my clothing selections. Light pastel shades tend to highlight rain marks, making them less ideal for this season. Additionally, I prioritise the protection of my long hair from rainwater by wearing a scarf, which acts as a shield while adding a stylish element to my overall look.”

 Sapna

Sikarwar, aka Bimlesh from Happu Ki Ultan Paltan, shares, “Wearing ethnic clothes during the rainy season can be challenging compared to the ease of a typical t-shirt and pants combo. However, as a fan of ethnic wear, I customise my looks to suit the monsoon. For instance, I pair a kurta with cropped straight-fit pants or black leggings that hit just above the ankle. Opting for darker or brighter hues and a slightly relaxed silhouette complements my kurta. Keeping my style casual and light makes the best fashion statement for me. I also believe keeping the face hydrated during the monsoon is important, so I prefer light and powder-based makeup. The season also provides a great opportunity to relax on the balcony and enjoy a hot coffee while wearing comfortable attire. For this purpose, I find cotton cord sets or cosy night suits ideal for lounging at home.

By making these adjustments, I can continue to enjoy ethnic wear while ensuring practicality and comfort in rainy weather. Also, don't let the rain ruin your favourite shoes when it comes to footwear. Invest in a pair of waterproof boots or stylish rain-friendly footwear. Classic rain boots in vibrant colours or trendy ankle boots with a waterproof coating can keep your feet dry while adding a fashionable touch to your overall look.” Vidisha Srivastava, aka Anita Bhabi from Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, shares, “When planning your rainy-day outfit, select fabrics that can withstand moisture. Avoid materials like silk or suede, which rain can easily damage. Instead, use water-resistant or quick-drying fabrics like polyester, nylon, or treated cotton. These fabrics will keep you comfortable and stylish even in wet conditions. During the monsoon, my favourite season, I enjoy walking in the rain. Keeping the season in mind, I opt for practical yet fashionable wear consisting of cropped pants and crop tops, t-shirts paired with cotton shirts, tube tops matched with midi skirts, and wide-leg trousers. A scarf serves as a stylish accessory and protects my hair from rain.

When it starts pouring, I quickly drape it around my neck and wrap it around my head. Rainy days often bring a gloomy atmosphere, so brighten things by incorporating vibrant colours into your outfit. Choose colourful raincoats, bold accessories, or colourful umbrellas to create a cheerful and eye-catching look. Not only will it uplift your mood, but it will also make a fashion statement amidst the grey skies. So, I always carry a colourful umbrella as an essential accessory throughout the monsoon. I opt for waterproof products for makeup, including sunscreen, waterproof mascara or eyeliner, and lip balm.”

Tune in to Doosri Maa at 8:00 pm, Happu Ki Ultan Paltan at 10:00 pm, and Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai at 10:30 pm, airing every Monday to Friday only on &TV!

VYRL Originals Unveils the Monsoon Song of the Year

VYRL Originals Unveils the Monsoon Song of the Year

Watch the song here- https://youtu.be/61SJuITd3Xo

VYRL Originals, the original creators of the quintessential 'monsoon song,' announced the release of their latest single, "Barsaat Aa Gayi," as they embrace the arrival of the rains in 2023. Following the resounding success of their previous chart-toppers, "Baarish" (2020), "Baarish Ban Jaana" (2021), and "Baarish Aayi Hain" (2022), VYRL Originals presents their highly anticipated monsoon track for this year.

"Barsaat Aa Gayi" is composed by the immensely talented duo Javed Mohsin, with evocative lyrics penned by wordsmith Kunal Vermaa. The song is brought to life by the stunning voices of Shreya Ghoshal and Stebin Ben, who impeccably convey the romance of this enchanting melody.

This track also reunites the dynamic on-screen duo of Hina Khan and Shaheer Sheikh, who captivated audiences in their previous collaboration, "Baarish Ban Jaana" which became a runaway success. The chemistry between Hina Khan and Shaheer Sheikh is palpable once again in the video, leaving a lasting impact on viewers.

"Barsaat Aa Gayi"
weaves a stirring tale of love and separation, beautifully capturing the memories of a cherished past while accepting an unwanted reality. As two long-separated lovers meet after years, audiences will be privy to the emotions that unfold between them. The heartfelt lyrics resonate with the joy of rediscovering lost love, while the melodic composition effortlessly transports listeners to a world of warmth, comfort, and romance experienced in the rain.

“The beauty of Barsaat Aa Gayi lies in its simple arrangement by Javed Mohsin and the evocative lyrics by Kunaal. I love how the song connects the rains with the arrival of your loved one. The hook line: Tum Jo Aaye Yaara Toh, Barsaat Aa Gayi - is such a poetic simple thought. After the success of Zihaal-E-Miskin with Javed Mohsin, I hope this becomes two in a row”, says the queen of Hindi music Shreya Ghoshal

The voice behind many unforgettable romantic songs, Stebin Ben said “The rainy season surely calls for all things romance and you want the perfect song to go with it in your playlist, right?  Barsaat Aa Gayi is the one to listen to this season. I am also reuniting with Javed Mohsin, Kunaal Verma  and the unparalleled Shreya Ghoshal after last year's successful Baarish Aayi Hain, and I am hoping our dream run continues with this one.”

Speaking about the song, Hina Khan says "The rains evoke several memories to me and is a time I associate with warmth and romance. After the runaway success of Baarish Ban Jaana, Barsaat Aa Gayi seemed like a perfect monsoon reunion with my friend Shaheer and the VYRL team. How fortunate am I that the great Shreya Ghoshal is doing the vocals for this song? It’s got such a catchy riff, and I am waiting eagerly to see the audience reaction to this monsoon track."

Calling monsoon his favourite season, Shaheer Sheikh says "My relationship with monsoon songs goes back to the superhit Baarish Ban Jaana which I did with my close friend Hina way back in 2021. This is a reunion I was looking forward to and it couldn’t have been a better song than Barsaat Aa Gayi. Stebin Ben and Shreya Ghoshal's vocals, the soothingly melodic composition of Javed Mohsin, and Kunal Verma's words make it a perfect monsoon song of the year. Here's hoping it becomes everybody's new default romantic rain song.”

Music composer duo Javed-Mohsin who are known for their beautiful melodies, share their inspiration behind the song, "The rains are one of our biggest inspirations. The monsoon season represents so many things- from passion, romance, and drama to poetry. Keeping in synergy with the same thought, ‘Barsaat Aa Gayi’ equates the rains with the rekindling of an old love story. The song gets its essence from the beautiful words by Kunaal Vermaa and when you have someone like Shreya Ghoshal and Stebin Ben singing your song, it's pure magic. ‘Barsaat Aa Gayi’ is that - monsoon magic.”
