He plans to intervene, scold at Chacha, and chase him away to appear heroic. Chacha follows the plan and scares Angoori by wearing the trench coat. However, Angoori gets so frightened that she is reminded of a childhood trauma. When Angoori regains consciousness, she starts tearing everyone's winter clothes and attacks anyone wearing warm clothes. Everyone tries to figure out what has caused Angoori's sudden change in behaviour and begins avoiding her out of fear. The situation escalates to the point where the police announce that no one should pass through Angoori Bhabhi’s lane, and if anyone does, the police will not be held responsible. Meanwhile, a client comes to meet Anita, and Tiwari sneaks him into her house. However, Angoori sees them and ends up beating both the client and Tiwari mercilessly.”

Princess Gauravi Kumari of Jaipur Graces the ARTISAN AWARDS 2025: A Royal Salute to Indian Craftsmanship

Princess Gauravi Kumari of Jaipur Graces the ARTISAN AWARDS 2025:

A Royal Salute to Indian Craftsmanship

29th January 2025, National: The much-anticipated Artisan Awards 2025 concluded on a grand note, with Princess Gauravi Kumari gracing the occasion as the esteemed chief guest. Known for her patronage of art and culture, Princess Gauravi Kumari presented the awards to the winners, lauding their ingenuity and dedication to preserving Indian craftsmanship and design.

The 8th edition of The Artisan Awards was hosted by the Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) powered by GIA India, in association with the World Gold Council. The presence of Princess Gauravi Kumari added a regal touch to the celebration, making it a night to remember for the artists, industry stalwarts, and dignitaries in attendance. As the Artisan Jewellery Design Awards continue to spotlight the best of India’s craftsmanship, this year’s finale set a new benchmark in creativity, elegance, and royal patronage. She was joined on stage by Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC; Mr. Kirit Bhansali, Vice Chairman, GJEPC; Mr. Sriram Natarajan, Managing Director, GIA India; Mr. Sachin Jain, Regional CEO, India, World Gold Council; Mr. Milan Chokshi, Convener, Promotions & Marketing, GJEPC; and Mr. Sabyasachi Ray, Executive Director, GJEPC.

The event celebrated the finest expressions of Indian craftsmanship under this year’s theme, "Indian Crafts Reimagined,” which received over 630 entries. In the diverse realm of Indian crafts, the 2025 Artisan Awards highlighted the interconnected nature of regional artistry within the country. Each participant drew inspiration from India’s rich heritage, blending traditional techniques with innovative interpretations. This thoughtful fusion ensured that age-old crafts not only retained their cultural significance but also found a meaningful place in modern design narratives.

The viewing gallery of the 20 finalists from the 8th Artisan Awards, themed Indian Crafts Reimagined, was open at JWCC. The showcased designs blended heritage crafts with innovation, celebrating ancient traditions while ensuring their modern relevance.

A visibly impressed Princess Gauravi Kumari of Jaipur remarked, “All the winning jewellery designs showcased at GJEPC’s Artisan Awards innovatively incorporated traditional art and craft. I believe that traditional crafts will always be relevant to today’s generation as long as designers introduce fresh perspective and new twists, while utilising modern silhouettes that appeal to global audiences. The new-age young consumer is moving from fast fashion to slow luxury. Gen-Next will get interested if we shift the narrative from the brand or product to the karigar (artisan) – the storytelling of their creative vision and interpretation is always compelling.”

Talking about jewellery making and craftsmanship as legacy passed on from generation to generation, Princess Gauravi said, “Global connoisseurs recognise that Indian craft techniques have been passed on from one generation to another, just like the heritage legacy brands of Europe. Some of the best global designers have learnt and educated themselves about Indian craftsmanship and then used their creativity to bring innovation and relevance. My great-grandfather, Maharaja Man Singh II, wanted to see Jaipur as a global centre of design, art, and crafts. I want to carry forward this legacy and empower craftsmen who defy challenges and create with a positive attitude.”

Mr. Vipul Shah, Chairman, GJEPC, remarked, “The Artisan Awards aims to spotlight India's unparalleled jewellery craftsmanship. This year’s theme, 'Indian Crafts, Reimagined', compelled participants to employ age-old crafts and design them through a contemporary lens, producing pieces that transcend cultural boundaries across the globe.

“Designing is one of the most sought-after skill sets in the industry and plays a pivotal role in generating value addition. For the sector to advance beyond retail, it is essential to enhance and expand design capabilities. The Artisan Awards serves as a platform to harness design talent at the grassroots level, nurturing India's raw potential while driving innovation and creativity.

“At GJEPC, we also invest in structured skill development through our training institutes to ensure the industry’s sustained progress. Additionally, we strive to preserve and promote local crafts like the timeless jadau and meenakari of Jaipur and Benares, the intricate filigree of the East, and the temple jewellery of the South.

“I invite industry stakeholders such as the World Gold Council, PGI, and De Beers to collaborate with GJEPC in marketing and popularising India’s unique jewellery crafts on the global stage."

Mr. Sachin Jain, Regional CEO, India, World Gold Council: “GJEPC’s Artisan Awards is a true testament of creativity and royalty in design capital. We at the World Gold Council are partnering with GJEPC to crown India as the jewellery hub of the world. It’s time for us to take Indian creativity and designs to the world. We appreciate the kalakaari (artistry) of India and will work with GJEPC to uplift the pristine status and impeccable standards of our craftsmanship. The Artisan Awards are a great celebration of Indian artistry. Every piece of gold jewellery crafted by these artisans is a testament to their dedication, skill, and artistic vision. The Awards serve as a platform to recognise their achievements and inspire future generations to appreciate and continue the legacy of gold jewellery artistry.”

Mr. Milan Chokshi, Convener, Promotion & Marketing, GJEPC adds, “The theme 'Indian Crafts, Reimagined' successfully inspired participants to leverage their creativity and design jewellery that seamlessly integrates global aesthetics with the essence of Indian craftsmanship. Through this journey, we witnessed exceptional pieces that not only preserved ancient crafts but also redefined their relevance for today's discerning audience. The innovative interpretations highlighted the rich heritage of Indian techniques, demonstrating how our traditional craftsmanship remains relevant and continues to captivate younger generations in today's dynamic world.”

Ms. Priya Tanna, President, @trscreativeconsulting: “I'm pleasantly surprised this year to witness a true revolution in the pieces being judged. The blend of traditional Indian crafts like Meenakari and beaten gold with contemporary designs is remarkable. What's even more impressive is how these creations are designed for everyday elegance, making them both wearable and timeless.”

Ms. Shachee Shah, Founder & Creative Head, Shachee Fine Jewellery: “Jewellery is emotion brought to life, and when infused with Indian craftsmanship, it carries a deeper connection to our roots. Nestled in the lap of the Western Ghats, Mahabaleshwar’s lush greenery and cool breeze instantly made us feel at peace. One of the highlights of the trip was visiting Wilson Point, also known as Sunrise Point, where we witnessed the most breathtaking sunrise. Watching the golden hues of the sun spread over the hills was a magical moment that filled us with awe and gratitude. We also explored Venna Lake, where we enjoyed a serene boat ride surrounded by stunning views of the lake and the forested hills. Another memorable experience was visiting Mapro Garden. Offering prayers at the sacred Kashi Vishwanath Temple was a deeply emotional moment, connecting me to my spiritual roots in a way I had never experienced before. After Varanasi, I embarked on my spiritual journey to Ujjain, where I visited the revered Mahakaleshwar Jyotirlinga. agat Sarkar Stands Out in Chennai Singams’ Promising ISPL Season 2 Opener

Jagat Sarkar Stands Out in Chennai Singams’ Promising ISPL Season 2 Opener

Mumbai, 27 th January 2025: Suriya – the superstar – was present at the Dadoji Konddev Stadium in Thane to egg Chennai Singams on for its maiden outing of the Indian Street Premier League T10 tournament. Despite the co-owner’s presence outside the boundary ropes, it was a former Singam that took the game away from the Singams as Falcon Risers Hyderabad won the duel by eight wickets and with three overs to spare. Riding on captain Bablu Patil’s cameo of 19 runs off five balls, the Falcons overhauled a target of 73 at the end of the seventh over. Patil – who was an integral part of the Chennai Singams last year – took on Devid Gogoi in the 50-50 over and finished the game. In fact, Gogoi started the 50-50 over – an ISPL innovation that either adds half the runs that actual runs scored (10 or more) bonus runs or deducts penalty runs (up to 9) to the batting team – on an ideal note by dismissing Shreyas Kadam. The next ball was a full-toss and Patil hit it straight to the midwicket boundary but despite being caught, he survived as the umpire adjudged it a no-ball. Patil was then given another reprieve two balls later with a difficult chance spilling for a one- bounced four. He then made the most by finishing the game off with two consecutive sixes. With the Falcons having scored 21 runs in the over, it meant they were awarded seven bonus runs and thus the match came to an end. Earlier in the evening, left-handed opener Jagat Sarkar (22 off 8 balls, 1x4, 2x6) got the Singams off the blocks rapidly. However, it lost the momentum with both the openers being dismissed off successive balls in the second over. While “Biker Man” Ketan Mhatre was caught at mid-off, Sarkar was unfortunately run-out off the next ball. It forced veteran Sumeet Dhekale to play out the middle overs with caution. However, the Singams could not accelerate starting with the seventh over, which was chosen as the 50-50 over. It could add just seven runs and was thus penalised four. In the end, the 50-50 over resulted in being a major point of difference. Despite starting its campaign with a loss, the Chennai Singams are looking forward to bounce back strongly against KVN Bangalore Strikers on Tuesday.

Brief scores: Chennai Singams 68/8 in 10 overs (Jagat Sarkar 22, Rahul Sawant 14; Parveen Kumar 2- 14, Vicky Bhoir 2-18) lost to Falcon Risers Hyderabad 73/2 in 7 overs (Padmesh Mhatre 23*, Bablu Patil 19*; Jignesh Patel 1/20).

 The partnership will transform how millions of Indians stay safe and prepared through real-time critical weather updates on their lock screen

Bangalore, 27 January, 2025: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) and InMobi’s 1Weather, a global leading weather app, have formed a unique strategic partnership to deliver national weather warnings and alerts to millions of Indians on their Glance-enabled smartphone lock screens. The Letter of Agreement (LoA) between IMD and InMobi will enable 235 million Indian smartphone users to stay informed about critical weather conditions instantly, without having to unlock their phones. This distinctive experience will not only help citizens stay safe and prepared but also facilitate swift action at scale during emergency situations. IMD employs advanced numerical weather prediction models to analyze and forecast critical weather conditions, continually enhancing this capability. Long-term and large-scale weather alerts for events such as cyclones, low-pressure systems, and depressions can be predicted 3 to 5 days in advance, allowing people to prepare and minimize potential loss of life or property. Additionally, hyper localised alerts provide timely warnings for short-term events such as localised heavy rainfall, thunderstorms, hailstorms, or dusty winds which may last only for a few hours. The distribution of these alerts will now be accessible directly on smartphone lock screens, enabling wider reach and quicker dissemination of critical information with the help of 1Weather and Glance.

Glance is an AI-driven platform that delivers diverse, personalized, relevant, and serendipitous experiences directly to the lock screens of Android smartphones, allowing the users to access content without unlocking their phones, searching or downloading multiple apps. This makes it an essential platform for timely content such as weather alerts, enabling people to notice and act instantly. Additionally, localisation plays an integral part of this communication as Glance can adapt alerts to suit the location and visual preferences of users across different regions, ensuring the information is accessible and easily understood by people throughout the country. Dr. Mrutyunjay Mohapatra, Director General, IMD said, "IMD is continuously enhancing its capabilities to improve weather and climate services. As we celebrate the 150-year milestone, we are further committed to innovating to build a better climate future for India. With the use of smart AI and strategic partnerships such as InMobi and 1Weather, we are optimistic of achieving newer and quicker ways of sharing life-saving weather alerts.” Srikanth Subramanian, Vice President and General Manager of 1Weather, said, “At 1Weather, we believe that this first of its kind collaboration, between 1Weather and IMD, will alert users ahead of time on severe weather right on their Android lock screens, and help them prepare better, saving precious lives in the process. We truly believe in helping people own their day with actionable weather insights. After success in the USA, we are hoping to reshape the climate story in India too and make a larger difference to society at large.” The weather alerts feature represents Glance's commitment to social responsibility through its Glance for Good program. This initiative uses Glance's AI-powered platform and vast reach to leverage its platform for social impact, which includes initiatives in public safety, disaster preparedness, and community well-being. "Weather affects everyone, from daily commuters to farmers. Through Glance for Good, we're democratizing access to critical weather data and ensuring it reaches those who need it most," added Bikash Chowdhury, Chief Marketing Officer at InMobi and Glance. "Our mission is to use technology not just for information and experiences, but as a force for social good." These live updates will be available soon on the Glance lock screen and later through the 1Weather app, which is available on the Google Play Store, across all major Android smartphone brands in India. 1Weather is one of the top 5 weather apps in the USA and LATAM regions.
