Goa Tourism bags two prestigious India Today Tourism Awards

Adjudged as Best State and Best Beaches/Coastal Destination (Palolem)

Panjim, Feb 27: Goa has been recognized as ‘Best State – Travellers’ Choice’ and ‘Best Beaches/Coastal Destination (Palolem- Goa)’ at the India Today Tourism Survey & Awards 2019.

The Hon’ble Minister for Tourism, Govt.  Of Goa, Mr. Manohar Ajgaonkar today hailed Goa Tourism’s achievement. He said, “I have always been reinforcing the fact that Goa is the top tourist destination in India and we have taken several measures to ensure that remains at the top across all parameters which includes safety of tourists, cleanliness and hygiene, infrastructure development, new tourism initiatives and more.”

Mr. Ajgaonkar’s jubilant reaction comes soon after Goa Tourism was presented with the two prestigious India Today Tourism awards by Mr.  K J Alphons, the Hon’ble  Union Minister of State for Tourism (Independent Charge), in New Delhi this Monday.

Best state for travel: While beaches are the mainstay of Goa’s tourism landscape, the state has a lot to offer in terms of culture, adventure, wellness and more. Goa has the finest, most well-maintained beaches in India. And what makes it so special is that each beach has a distinct personality. The north and south are as different as chalk and cheese in terms of topography, food and activities on offer. Goa is for the tourist who loves nature, enjoys the sunny beaches, is a foodie, loves art, wants to study its brilliant architecture,  or tour of a spice or cashew estate. In recent times, the state has also emerged as a destination for spiritual seekers as its natural beauty and Zen personality attracts yoga lovers and alternative medical practitioners by the dozens.

Best beach or coastal destination: Palolem beach, located in southern Goa, emerged as the most favoured beach in India, given its location, natural beauty and the range of activities on offer. It has been described as one beach that caters to both families and backpackers. Palolem has held its position as one of the finest beaches in Goa because of the diversity in experiences it offers: Its bamboo hut shacks, locals selling their colourful wares, yoga, spirituality etc.

The India Today Tourism Awards 2019 recognises popular travel destinations and attractions across the country in a range of categories. This year it commissioned market research company IPSOS to sample opinion through online and offline surveys in 10 urban locations from all corners of India. The list of winners reflects the public thirst for variety: From thronging beaches to mountain wild­er­nesses, and from riverbanks to highways. To keep things interesting, it also introduced some novel categories, such as 'Iconic Landscapes' and 'Scenic Roads’.

Jaya Prada says, “Our society grooms girls, but fails to produce good husbands”

Jaya Prada’s television debut show Perfect Pati on &TV posed some hard-hitting questions to its viewers when it started. Can an ideal son also be an ideal husband? What happens when a newly married woman realises her husband is not the man she expected him to be? It interestingly answered these questions through its strong narrative over the months. Not just did it give a refreshing perspective to the quintessential saas-bahu equation, but also changed perceptions of how a woman should deal with a troubled marriage and partner.

The show in a dramatic turn of events, will see Rajyashree Rathod played by Jaya Prada, killing her own son Pushkar (Ayush Anand) in a bid to do the right thing and serve justice to her daughter-in-law Vidhita (Sana Amin Sheikh).  Rajyashree had long known that her son and daughter-in-law had trouble in their marriage. But it has now come to light that her son under his psychotic behaviour had tried to kill Vidhita, the woman he claimed to love. The shocking climax where Rajyashree shoots her own son with a gun is sure to cause ripples, but also sends a strong message to the society at large and mothers in particular on the topic of raising their sons well.

Talking about this unconventional concept and the bold move the writers have taken with the story, Jaya Prada said, “I am glad that I made my television debut with Perfect Pati, a show that portrayed a mother and her role as a mother-in-law in such strong positive light. It is imperative that mothers should understand their child’s behaviour and not blindly support the wrongdoings or faults in their sons. Indian society has spent centuries grooming girls to be future good wives (sanskari bahus), yet often failing to produce good husbands who deserve them. Girls while growing up are being conditioned to feel that they have to accept their husbands any way,  even at times cater to their extreme behaviour in their marriages. It is imperative for mothers to imbibe values in their sons right from their childhood to respect a woman and her choices. I am happy and proud that &TV has taken such a strong stance and given this message through my show.”

Further adding on the highpoint, she said, “Rajyashree loved her son, but she refused to stand-up for his bizarre behaviour and injustice against Vidhita. This a huge turning point as she chooses right over wrong and takes a drastic step though viewers will see the reasoning behind this move.”

This is surely one climax that will be worth watching!

EPIC CHANNEL TO TELECAST SELECT SHOWS CELEBRATING INDIA’S DIVERSE WILDLIFE ON WORLD WILDLIFE DAY

India is a land as diverse in climate and topography as it is in culture and history. The vast landscape provides for a variety of flora, fauna, and unique habitats that are home to some of the world’s most diverse wildlife.

On World Wildlife Day, EPIC - India Ka Apna Infotainment channel brings to its viewers a line-up of select episodes throughout the day celebrating the wildlife from all parts of the country.

The episodes will crisscross the land through its forest, wildlife areas and bring alive stories of animals, humans, their co-existence and the challenges and opportunities this provides.

‘Wilderness Days’ hosted by the late Tom Alter is a showcase of close encounters between wild animals and humans. Celebrity Tigers of India, Man VS Animal, A Fort in the Forest, and The Stripped Terrors of Sunderkhal are some of the riveting stories in the line-up.

The curated line-up also includes two wildlife documentaries - Purwottar Ki Parwaz is based on the migratory birds visiting Assam’s famous Kaziranga National Park; while Foresting Forest follows the life of Jadav Payeng, a man who took 35 years to build the world’s first man-made forest by planting trees in the middle of the mighty Brahmaputra River, transforming a sandbar into a self-sustaining forest ecosystem.  

The one-hour special, Jungle Ke Baahubali is an odyssey of India’s picturesque wetland canvases and their spectacular wildlife. The show focuses on the efforts of the forest department and locals towards the protection and conservation of wildlife. It has been recognized at the Wildlife Conservation Film Festival, New York, Isla Earth Conservancy Award of Merit, Catalina Film Festival, Avalon, California among several others.

Speaking about the specials on World Wildlife Day, Akul Tripathi - Head, Content and Programming said, “EPIC is a celebration of India and the wildlife though underrepresented in media is amongst the most diverse, unique and fragile in the world. जया प्रदाची टेलिव्हिजनवरील पदार्पणीय मालिका &TV वरील 'परफेक्‍ट पति'ने सुरूवातीला प्रेक्षकांसमोर काही खडतर प्रश्‍न समोर मांडले. एक आदर्श मुलगा आदर्श पती असू शकतो का? नवविवाहित वधूला तिच्‍या अपेक्षेप्रमाणे तिचा नवरा नसल्‍याचे समजल्‍यानंतर काय होईल? ही मालिका अनेक महिन्‍यांपासून अगदी रोचक पद्धतीने व प्रबळपणे या प्रश्‍नांची उत्‍तरे देत आहे. या मालिकेने सासू-सूनांच्‍या नात्‍याला एक नवे पैलू देण्‍यासोबतच एका महिलेने अयशस्‍वी विवाह व जोडीदाराचा कशाप्रकारे सामना करावा याबाबतचा समज देखील बदलला आहे.  

अनेक नाट्यमय घटना असलेल्‍या या मालिकेमध्‍ये जया प्रदा राज्‍यश्री राठोडची भूमिका साकारताना दिसणार आहे. ती योग्‍य गोष्‍ट करण्‍यासाठी आणि तिची सून विधिताला (साना अमिन शेख) न्‍याय देण्‍यासाठी तिचा स्‍वत:चा मुलगा पुष्‍करला (आयुष आनंद) ठार करणार आहे. राज्‍यश्रीला माहित होते की,  तिचा मुलगा व सूनेच्‍या वैवाहिक जीवनामध्‍ये अनेक समस्‍या होत्‍या. पण आता सत्‍य उघडकीस आले आहे की, तिच्‍या मुलाचे वर्तन एका मनोरूग्‍णाप्रमाणे आहे आणि त्‍याने जीवापाड प्रेम करत असलेल्‍या पत्‍नीला, म्‍हणजेच विधिताला मारण्‍याचा प्रयत्‍न केला होता. धक्‍कादायक क्‍लायमॅक्‍समध्‍ये राज्‍यश्री बंदूकीने तिच्‍या स्‍वत:च्‍या मुलाला गोळी मारते, जे पाहणे प्रेक्षकांसाठी अत्‍यंत रोमांचक असणार आहे. तिच्‍या या कृत्‍यामधून समाजाला एक महत्‍त्‍वपूर्ण संदेश दिला जाणार आहे, तो म्‍हणजे खासकरून मातांनी त्‍यांच्‍या मुलांचे संगोपन चांगल्‍याप्रकारे करणे गरजेचे आहे.

या अपारंपारिक संकल्‍पना आणि कथेमध्‍ये लेखकांनी घेतलेल्‍या धाडसी पावलाबाबत बोलताना जया प्रदा म्‍हणाली, ''मला 'परफेक्‍ट पति'सह टेलिव्हिजनवर पदार्पण केल्‍याचा आनंद होत आहे. ही मालिका एक आई आणि सासू म्‍हणून तिच्‍या प्रबळ भूमिकेवर प्रकाश टाकते. मातांनी त्‍यांच्‍या मुलांचे वर्तन समजून घेणे आणि त्‍यांच्‍या मुलांच्‍या कोणत्‍याही वाईट कृत्‍याकडे किंवा दोषाकडे दुर्लक्ष करू नये, जे आजच्‍या काळात अनिवार्य आहे. भारतीय समाज अनेक दशकांपासून मुलींना भावी चांगली पत्‍नी (संस्‍कारी सून) बनवण्‍याच्‍या हेतूने त्‍यांच्‍यावर संस्‍कार करत आला आहे. पण आपला समाज त्‍यांच्‍यासाठी पात्र असलेले चांगले पती घडवण्‍यामध्‍ये असमर्थ ठरला आहे. मुली मोठ्या होत असताना त्‍यांना समजावले जाते की, त्‍यांनी कोणत्‍याही स्थितीमध्‍ये पतीचा स्‍वीकार केला पाहिजे. वैवाहिक जीवनामध्‍ये कितीही भांडणे, समस्‍या असोत सतत पतीसोबतच राहिले पाहिजे. मातांनी त्‍यांच्‍या मुलांमध्‍ये बालपणापासून चांगली मूल्‍ये रूजवणे, त्‍यांच्‍यावर चांगले संस्‍कार घडवणे अत्‍यंत अनिवार्य आहे. ज्‍यामुळे ते महिलांचा आदर करतील. मला आनंद होण्‍यासोबतच अभिमानही वाटत आहे की, &TVने प्रबळ पुढाकार घेत माझ्या मालिकेच्‍या माध्‍यमातून हा महत्‍त्‍वपूर्ण संदेश देण्‍याचा प्रयत्‍न केला आहे.''  

या महत्‍त्‍वपूर्ण विषयाबाबत अधिक बोलताना ती पुढे म्‍हणाली, ''राज्‍यश्रीचे तिच्‍या मुलावर खूप प्रेम आहे. पण ती मुलाच्‍या गैरवर्तणूकीला आणि विधिताविरुद्धच्‍या अन्‍यायाला पाठिंबा देण्‍याला नकार देते. हा एक मोठा बदल आहे. ती अन्‍यायापेक्षा न्‍यायाची निवड करते आणि एक धक्‍कादायक पाऊल उचलते. प्रेक्षकांना हा बदल लवकरच पाहायला मिळणार आहे.''

“Green Book”, directed by Peter Farrelly, won the coveted Oscar for Best Picture of the Year, along with the Best Supporting Actor Oscar for Mahershala Ali, and Best Original Screenplay Oscar for Nick Vallelonga, Brian Currie and Peter Farrelly. The Ryan Gosling starrer “First Man” won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects.

“Green Book”, was nominated for 5 categories - Best Picture, Best Actor (Viggo Mortensen), Best Supporting Actor, Best Original Screenplay & Best Film Editing ; “First Man” was nominated for 4 categories - Best Production Design, Best Sound Editing, Best Sound Mixing & Best Visual Effects & “Ready Player One” was nominated for Best Visual Effects.

Reliance Entertainment’s JV with Steven Spielberg has now bagged a total of 8 Oscars during the partnership, including for its earlier acclaimed films, The Help, Lincoln and Bridge of Spies.
