So Can India, a country struggling to combat an increasingly high-profile rape culture,
envision a society where women feel safe in the company of unknown men?
The 30-minute short film "MEERA" talks about women's safety and makes us wonder if
we can really assure women that it's a safe world.
MEERA- An intense short film about rape and revenge. This thought- provoking short
film on rape depicts the un told agony of the victims. The story unfolds in a different way
and puts lots of question for viewers to address-- Even if she stood over… Will society
accept her easily? Will her Life be simple as it was earlier.?? What should be the
punishment for such a Crime.??
Sunil Pathare, the director of the film speaks on the subject " Meera is a story of a
brave woman of our society. The idea of the film is centered around the fundamental truth
that women's safety is not about women alone, which is why we pledged to create a short
film that communicates clearly the need to change the mindset of men, regardless of age
and status"
Kapil Pathare, the producer of the film says "Until the vision of men doesn't change,
nothing will change. Women should not be treated like an object to men, one should
always respect her..When a women says No... it means No . Stop rape now"
