&TV | Lights, camera, resolutions: Celebs share New Year resolutions! - December 2023

Naya saal, naye sangharsh!

New Year will bring with it the biggest dose of entertainment on &TV. Here we reveal the intriguing details of what awaits viewers in &TV's 'Atal', 'Happu Ki Ultan', and 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain'. These popular shows promise exciting new developments and surprises for fans to look forward to. About &TV’s Atal track, Krishna Devi Vajpayee shares, “Krishan Bihari Vajpayee (Ashutosh Kulkarni) and Krishna Devi Vajpayee (Neha Joshi) inspire Atal (Vyom Thakkar) to embrace Sanskriti fully and stay away from mixing different ideologies. On his way to school with his father, Atal encounters a group of Krantikaris protesting the British Government again. This time, instead of reacting, Atal decides to strike a balance, saying, ‘Santulan se kaam lunga’. Krishan Bihari is happy to see this transformation in Atal. However, upon reaching school, Krishan Bihari discovers that Atal has been transferred from English to Hindi medium class by Stephen (Raymond) without any prior notice. While Krishan Bihari is upset by this unexpected change, Atal sees it as a challenge to excel as a diligent student even in the Hindi medium. Later, upon returning home, father informs the family about Atal's sudden transfer. Despite Krishna Devi's efforts to calm Krishan Bihari, he remains upset.

About &TV’s Happu Ki Ultan Paltan track, Daroga Happu Singh shares, “Children request Happu Singh (Yogesh Tripathi) to attend a New Year's party. He tactfully diverts their enthusiasm towards a home celebration, and everyone agrees. Preparations for the celebration at home begin, but a twist arises when Beni (Vishwanath Chatterjee) shows Happu passes to a New Year's party featuring a Russian dancer. Excited, Happu and Beni attend the event, leaving the family upset. The following day, photographs from the party surface in the newspaper, much to Happu and Beni's dismay. Their attempts to conceal the news from the family are thwarted by Gabbar (Saheb Das Manikpuri), who shows the news to Rajesh (Geetanjali Mishra) and Katori Amma (Himani Shivpuri). Katori Amma punishes Happu by decreeing that he cannot refuse anyone's request for the next two weeks. Everyone takes advantage of this opportunity and bombards Happu with their demands. Hritik (Aryan Prajapati), Chamchi (Zaara Warsi), and Ranbir (Somya Azad) seek Happu's intervention with their Master (played by Vijay Kumar Singh), who threatened to fail them in exams. Meanwhile, a rift emerges between Katori Amma and Rajesh, culminating in Rajesh demanding that Amma be sent to her brother's house, while Amma insists that Rajesh be sent to her parental home (mayka).” About &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain track, Manmohan Tiwari shares, “During a jog, Tiwari (Rohitashv Gour) and Anita (Vidisha Srivastava) are too engrossed in their phones to notice their surroundings. Tiwari gets distracted and falls into a gutter, but Anita remains unaware, still absorbed in her phone. Meanwhile, Vibhuti (Aasif Sheikh) downloads an app and clicks photos of Angoori (Shubhangi Atre). At the tea stall, Tika (Vaibhav Mathur), Tillu (Salim Zaidi), and others sit together but communicate only through a group chat. Later, at the New Year party in Modern Colony, everyone remains absorbed in their phones, even amidst the celebrations. This annoys Saxena (Saanand Verma) and he scolds them. Realising their mistake, everyone sets their phones aside. Saxena urges them to pledge to refrain from using their phones for the upcoming days and takes their devices. The absence of a phone causes chaos when Anita misses a meeting notification, resulting in a loss of five lakhs. Similarly, without communication, people become frustrated and even assault the Doctor (Jeetu Gupta) when he attempts home visits to check on patients.”

Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, GJEPC Chairman Shri Vipul Shah among Year 2023’s most powerful/influential people in the global diamond trade

Hon. Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi ji, GJEPC Chairman Shri Vipul Shah among Year 2023’s most powerful/influential people in the global diamond trade

Among 2023’s most powerful/Influential people in the global diamond trade

National, 30th December 2023: The world’s most influential and most read diamond-focussed publication ‘Rapaport’ named Hon. Prime Minister of India Shri Narendra Modi among the movers and shakers of the global diamond industry in the year 2023. Other members including Vipul Shah, Chairman, The Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC); Gina Drosos, CEO, Signet Jewelers; Feriel Zerouki, president, World Diamond Council (WDC); Mokgweetsi Masisi, president, Botswana; Gabi Tolkowsky, Belgian diamond cutter;   were at the forefront hailed by Rapaport the most powerful/ influential people in the world to shape the future of the diamond industry.

Our “People of the Year” reflect the realities of 2023, said Rapaport in its foreword. Some of these individuals were directly involved in solving the industry’s acute problems — facilitating India’s freeze on rough imports, for example, or identifying ways to adapt retail strategy to the situation. As with the famous Time Person of the Year, inclusion in this list is not necessarily a recognition of an individual’s positive contribution, but rather of his or her influence on the diamond industry and/or presence in the headlines. We have chosen to spread the honors among several figures rather than picking a single person of the year,

Mr. Vipul Shah said, “India’s leadership and significance in the global diamond trade continues even in 2023. We are proud of the millions of workers connected to India’s gem & jewellery. We are proud and privileged that our Government with the Hon. Prime Minister support us to keep the sparkle intact.”

Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi had a number of contact points with the jewelry industry in 2023, says Rapaport. He inaugurated the Surat Diamond Bourse in December. He also raised a few eyebrows by referring to lab-grown diamonds as “green diamonds”, said Rapaport.

Rapaport lauded the efforts and initiatives undertaken by Shri Vipul Shah amidst headwinds faced by the indigenous industry. The GJEPC holds a monthly online forum with representatives of the industry to discuss trends and concerns, said Rapaport. In September of this year, with polished prices tumbling amid weak retail sales and an oversupply, the Indian trade body decided the situation warranted a broader, physical gathering. The attendees came to a unanimous conclusion: India needed a voluntary pause in rough-diamond imports to stop inventories from getting out of control. The industry implemented this freeze for two months, from October 15 to December 15, taking the pressure off the sector and enabling the market to stabilize.

Insiders at the GJEPC say it was an industry-wide call for an import moratorium and that the country has made similar moves in past crises. However, it was the GJEPC that brought people together and managed the process following the crunch meeting. Vipul Shah, its chairman, was at the forefront, said Rapaport.

Rohitashv Gour shot for Dunki in a moment’s notice from Rajkumar Hirani Popular for his iconic character Manmohan Tiwari in &TV's popular show Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai, Rohitashv Gour has carved a niche for himself in Television and Bollywood. His exceptional comic timing has solidified his position as a talented actor in the entertainment industry. Recently, Gour made a notable appearance in Rajkumar Hirani's film Dunki by essaying the character of a deceptive Visa Agent. In a candid revelation, he shares intriguing details about how he grabbed the role. Speaking about his involvement in the Shahrukh Khan starrer film, Rohitashv Gour revealed, "It's hard to believe, but this turned out to be one of the most significant opportunities that came to me after a surprisingly short wait. Interestingly, it all unfolded in one day. I am shooting for my show 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hain' in Naigaon. Due to the extensive commute, I usually stay in an apartment near the set and only head back to my home in Goregaon during my off days. We were to shoot the next day, but I unexpectedly received news in the morning that we had a week off on set. I decided to utilize this break by spending time with my family and heading home. On my way, I received a call from Rajkumar Hirani Ji, who asked about my whereabouts. I informed him that I was en route home, and he suggested I head directly to Goregaon's Filmcity without elaborating further. Upon reaching there, I was astonished to witness a massive set bustling with thousands of people. Mr Hirani then informed me that they were filming a scene with a well-known theatre artist from Punjab who was meant to portray a character that day but couldn't make it for some reason. It was the film's inaugural day of shooting, and Mr. Hirani was determined not to halt the production. Since it was the film's first day and Rajkumar Hirani Ji didn't want any disruptions, he immediately thought of me due to our past collaborations. Raju sir then offered me the role of Laltu, a counterfeit Punjabi visa agent in his film 'Dunki.' I gladly accepted the impactful role. He briefed me about the character and the scene, allowing me to practice my Punjabi accent. After the shoot, Rajkumar ji graciously sent a large bouquet to my house, expressing his gratitude. It was a kind gesture." Talking about his equation with Rajkumar Hirani, the actor reminisced, "I first met him back in 1997 when I arrived in Mumbai to audition for one of his shows on DD1. Unfortunately, that show never made it to the screen. However, Rajkumar assured me of future opportunities in his projects, and 'Dunki' is one such instance. I collaborated with Hirani ji on one of his renowned anthology series, 'The Bestsellers,' where I played a leading role. Our bond remains strong to this day. The day of shooting for 'Dunki' was a delightful experience. Hirani Ji introduced me to Abhijat Joshi, the film's writer, and Taapsee Pannu. I was pleasantly surprised when Taapsee mentioned recognizing me from 'Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai' and being an avid viewer of the show. It was beyond my imagination that I would land a role in such a significant film, and everything unfolded so swiftly (laughs). It was truly an amazing coincidence and an exhilarating experience for me." Watch Rohitashv Gour as Manmohan Tiwari in &TV’s Bhabiji Ghar Par Hai at 10:30 PM every Monday to Friday!

The year has been a rollercoaster ride for all entertainment enthusiasts, with interesting and engaging content flowing from every nook and corner. From classic mediums to innovative platforms, the year kept audiences hooked with a diverse array of experiences. As we bid farewell to 2023, let’s take a look at the top 5 mediums that took centre stage and ruled the entertainment landscape in India.
