Known for his role as Raju in The Kapil Sharma Show, Rajiv became a household name with his humorous portrayal of the character. Rajiv Thakur's new character of Kapil Sharma's family is growing day by day and spreading love amongst the audience.

He will be seen in an all new avatar that is reminiscent of a quintessential masaledar hero in "Kanjoos Majnu, Kharchili Laila". He imbues the character of a helpless husband with the right amount of energy and comic timing. Made in both Hindi & Punjabi, the story of the film addresses an issue that most households certainly can't handle while also packing some much-needed laugh-out-loud moments. Kharchili Shehnaaz Sehar falls in love with Rajiv Thakur, a big-time Kanjoos and eventually marries her, only to discover that both her devoted husband and his family are also huge Kanjoos.

Rajiv Thakur, the lead actor says that the plot of the movie “expresses all the feelings and helplessness a man feels controlling all his spending, but with a blend of comedy and pleasure. I find it to be a very special opportunity to act in this movie, and I hope the public will recognise and appreciate the complexity of the film.”

Commenting on the release of the film, he further adds "The film will first release on 13th of Jan in Punjabi, then later in Hindi '' . Written and directed by Avtar, the film stars Rajiv Thakur, Shehnaz Sehar, Nirmal Rishi, Brijendra Kala, Sudesh Sharma, Seema Kaushal, Aman Sidhu and Anup Sharma. It is produced under the banner of ‘Blockbuster Moviesss’ and is all set to release next year on January 13. Gurmeet Singh Arora and Bharathi Reddy are producing the film.

Apart from the rom-com, he will also be seen playing a serial killer in a thriller film on OTT which also stars Vinay Pathak, Anupriya Goenka & Vikram Kochhar. He will be seen in 2 Punjabi films as the lead actor in 2023., slated to release on the 13th of January, 2023
