The Indian Performing Right Society Ltd. (IPRS) and the Korean Music

Copyright Association (KOMCA) are thrilled to announce the upcoming Indo-

Korean Music Collaboration Programme, a one-of-a-kind initiative designed to

foster cultural exchange and create original cross-cultural music. Set to take place

from November 6th to November 12th, 2024, at the True School of Music,

Vijaybhoomi University Campus, Jamrung, Maharashtra, this event will bring

together 15 artists, 10 from across India and 5 from South Korea, to collaborate on

songwriting, composition, music production, and creative innovation. Blending

diverse musical influences, the programme aims to forge lasting artistic and industry

connections while introducing fresh, globally appealing music rooted in the rich

traditions of both Indian and Korean music.

KOLAB will offer a unique setting for participants to expand their creative horizons

through collaborative sessions guided by leading music creators such as Bunty

Bains and Mayur Puri who will serve as the Creative Directors. Throughout the week,

participants will merge their distinctive styles and ideas, infusing Indian rhythms with

Korean popular music influences to create songs that embody the vibrant cultural

exchange of both nations. The event will culminate in an exclusive listening session

on 13 th November in Mumbai, where the newly composed songs will be presented to

an audience of industry professionals, offering these artists valuable exposure,

feedback, and potential opportunities for broader reach and commercial success.

KOLAB, IPRS and KOMCA are paving the way for meaningful cultural exchange,

strengthening the growth of independent music, and building a global network of

creators that celebrates and sustains both musical legacies while driving innovation

in the industry.

The Indian Performing Right Society Ltd. (IPRS) is India’s only Copyright Society

representing the authors, composers and publishers of music. We make it simple for music

creators to get compensated for their work, and easy for music users to legally play music.

IPRS is an Association of Composers, Authors and Publishers of musical works and literary

works associated with such musical works. From a legal constitution perspective, IPRS

which came in existence in 1969 as a Company Limited by Guarantee and Registered under

the Companies Act, 1956 and is a non-profit making body. Our aim is to ensure our

About KOMCA

Korea Music Copyright Association (KOMCA) is a non-profit organization established in

1964 to protect the rights of music copyright holders and to contribute to the development of

music culture.

In accordance with Article 105 of the Copyright Act (Permission for Copyright Trust Service)

and Article 47 of the Enforcement Decree of the same Act (Application for Permission for

Copyright Trust Service), KOMCA obtained approval for trust service from the Ministry of

Culture Sports and Tourism (February 23, 1988). It is to date the largest collective

management organization and professional body for trust management of music copyright in

Korea, where music copyright holders entrust copyright, licenses are granted to musical

works users and royalty is collected/distributed to the rightsholders.

KOMCA joined as an associate member of CISAC (International Confederation of Societies

of Authors and Composers) in April 1987. In 1995 it was promoted to a full member and in

October 2004, it hosted the CISAC World Congress, which is referred to as the Olympics of

the copyright industry, and accordingly the international recognition of KOMCA surged.


KOMCA, which in 2017 announced its full-fledged international appearance by holding the

CISAC Asia-Pacific Committee (the largest event held in Asia) in Seoul, was finally elected

as the Board of Directors which consists of only 20 organizations around the world at the

General Assembly in May 2019. Re-elected in May 2022, creators from across Asia-Pacific

convened in Seoul for the International Music Creators Seminar, APMA and APC organized

by KOMCA in collaboration with CISAC. In 2024, KOMCA successfully hosted the CISAC

General Assembly in celebration of its 60th anniversary in Seoul, along with various

meetings such as the Board of Directors, CIAM, APMA, APC and more.
