Vocational education – A boon to economy
In
today’s fast running, competitive time, education plays a vital role in helping
people with living a respectable life, by making them capable of earning their
daily bread. Over the years, the awareness for education among people has
grown, which has led to several educational programs to have started for
economically challenged sectors of society.
Private
as well as government bodies have started investing in education of children as
well as adults. Also for those who had to drop out of studies for some reasons,
there are vocational programs to ensure their job placements. It has not only
benefited individuals by guarantying respectable jobs, but has also added to
the economy of the country. Vocational education has gained recognition and
helps curb the unemployment ratio in a country.
Here are the advantages of vocational
education highlighting its contribution in economy:
1)
Skilled
labour: Vocational education helps individuals to learn skills required by
different industries. Be it computers, electrical, electronics, mechanical or
others, skilled man force is welcomed in all sectors of work. Through
vocational programs, industries get these trained workers without having to
spend time and efforts in training them for longer periods. Also, for various
areas of work, industries have to hire international trained professionals.
But, now with the world class vocational training institutes in place, it is
now possible to get such trained talents from our country itself, thus helping
the economy.
2)
Global
reach: Skilled professionals, trained from esteemed vocational institutes
are recognized internationally as well. The world has started acknowledging
vocational degrees in required faculties. Hence, the trained professionals can
get placements abroad and add new feathers to the cap of nation’s economy.
3)
Curb
unemployment: Through vocational programs individuals learn skills and get
placed in different jobs easily, reducing the unemployment ratio in a country.
4)
Encourage
entrepreneurship: Vocational training imparts in-depth knowledge about any
given field and helps individuals to carve their career path. It not only helps
in getting jobs, but also encourages entrepreneurship by making one aware of
all ups and downs of a field. Vocational courses equip an individual with all
requisite knowledge about a certain industry, helping them to start their own
business, if they wish to, which again leads to contributing to the economy of a
nation.
5)
Reduces
crime: It goes without saying that an idle mind is devil’s home. It has been
seen in many cases that unemployment can give birth to crime. Vocational
courses help people in learning skills and get employed and thus contribute in engaging
people in constructive work, reducing the rate of crime.
Thus, directly or indirectly vocational education, which has
now gained world recognition, adds to the economy of any nation. It bridges the
gap between the demand and supply of skills in the industries.
